Um, I worked at a few fast food places when I was in my late teens, while going to a trade school during the day etc. I also have known many people that have worked at them. Heck even interviewing for Starbucks (which I would classify a bit higher then most fast food as far as required attire), still doesn't really need you to dress up.

You can, but as someone who has actually hired people for many positions (Even when I was 19 and working at Carl's Jn), as long as you don't look homeless (and even then, we had 2 homeless people working for us at Carl's jnr, one of which was seasonal (we would hire him back each year), your set.

Focus on more important things, like making a good impression with your personality, experience you have in the field, how you will treat customers. Be ready to answer questions about specific situations that may come up etc.

All that will make a much larger difference then how well you dress up, past a certain point of course. If you have saggy pants and look like your a wannabe rapper or something, that is a different story. IF you look like an average person who walks into Firehouse subs, your fine.
