155. Black Ark Unveiled
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim

Well this is wildly different from anything Ive heard out of a Falcom game. Different isnt necessarily a good thing though, and in this case Im not huge on it. Lacks any sort of hook while chugging along and the result is something that isnt any fun or impactful.

154. The Worms Tail
Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Just some more bombast without anything interesting to set it apart. People love this games music but damn, I feel like Im being a bit harsh on it overall. There were over 30 of these fuckers on Final Bar Line and I dont remember most of them. This may have been included, I genuinely have no idea. LIke, it sounds fine, I'm sure it works quite well too, but it's just not sticking.

153. The Almighty Tailor
Fashion Police Squad

@Simoun (4/5)

It sounded neat, albeit generic, at first. Not particularly exciting but I was vibing. Then those vocals come in and wow they sound very silly here. Completely took me out of the song, what the hell are they doing? As the song progresses into more interesting ideas, they serve as an unfortunate weight which I cant separate. Shame, really, lose them, and this song wouldve slotted quite a bit higher.

152. Finish ~ The Morganian Sanctuary : O. Vortigern
Fate/Grand Order

@trdl23 (4/4)

The piano is nice but the song just kinda makes me wanna take a nap. Its not exciting or engaging in much of any way. I guess its nice for background music, but I doubt it adds much to whatever encounter its a part of. Another song with some genuinely interesting ideas that fails to deliver on those in interesting ways.

151. Kill God
Silent Hill 3

@Snake5555555555 (2/5)

Silent Hill music is generally some of the best out there, but it can really be split into two categories: 1. Cool trip-hop 2. Creepy atmospheric. This is in category 2, which doesnt really hold up in easy listening, or hyper critical analysis which is definitely what Im currently doing. I never did play Silent Hill 3, but I did watch a Lets Play and enjoyed that pretty well, but the main draw of Silent Hill is how all the pieces of it come together to create such a distinct feel of stress and melancholy. At least thats how it was in the first two, as much of a drag as they are to actively play. Basically, what I mean is its hard to enjoy the more atmospheric pieces of music of the Silent Hill games on their own because theres such a need for the other pieces of the work to be present with it.

150. The Usurper
The Kings Bird

NBIceman (4/5)

Has some neat transitions and the flute is pretty cool. However, it runs into the same issue as a few of these songs have in that its far too bombastic for me, and that kinda crowds out a lot of the cooler concepts the song introduces. Its fine, but not all that great.

And with that, tier 2 is complete! Now we're moving into songs I feel a bit more positive about, even if they mostly don't engage me a whole lot.
