Why do people choose which Japanese words to pronounce correctly and which to bastardize into "English"? Like you can say the "Ka" in Kaiba properly but suddenly it changes for karaoke?

Japanese is one of the easiest languages to learn because for the most part, syllables only have one way of pronouncing them. "Ka" is always pronounced like the "ca" in car. The R sounds are somewhat difficult to explain via writing since you have to make contact with the the top of your mouth with your tongue. But "Ra" is always pronounced like the first syllable of ramen (assuming you can at least pronounce that correctly, and not call it ray-men or something). "O" is always pronounced "Oh". And "Ke" is always pronounced like the "Ke" in the name Ken.

Whereas in English we have shit like Mercedes and Australia; where they both have 3 of the same vowel, with each being pronounced differently every time.
