Republicans had full control of congress for just 4 years. Democrats had full control for 52 years. And it was split just 6 years. 20 of those 52 years had a republican president. Which means 32 years democrats had all of congress of and the presidency. Of the 4 years Republicans had full control of congress, just 2 had a republican president.
