I mean, you said she seemed like a beggar. Now you're sure she was a beggar and wanted money? I mean, the fact that you use the term "beggar" already makes it seem like you have some kind of disdain for poor people.

And why do you assume a "beggar" would have no other question than to ask you for money, and how many stores have a habit of letting people walk around inside the store panhandling?

I'd say it's more likely she was just a woman who probably isn't well off and wasn't expecting some pompous asshole to snap at her for asking if she could ask a question and knee jerk responded with "Are you crazy?" because nobody would reasonably expect that response.
