A little late updating this list, especially since Halloween Ends (lawl) just came out. I'm not super stoked for it, despite it being my favorite horror film series. Kills was very underwhelming and the reviews Ends has liken it a lot more to that film than the first one from 2018 (which was great). It's a shame it probably won't be very good, but the big franchises tend not to be I guess. I was just a bit spoiled by how good 2018 was and still coming down from that high. Maybe I'll be surprised.

Smile easily takes my spot for best horror film of the year and I can't imagine it gets unseated either. Probably my favorite horror film since Hereditary, and the only film in history that evoked a guttural scream from me in a theater. I was definitely super embarrassed and in shock I got got so hard. While yeah, I sure wish the trailer hadn't spoiled that great neck twisty thing in the car the film surprisingly had more than enough in it to make up for not getting to witness that in person. I'm really happy for the film and all of those involved with it for really wowing people with such a delightful surprise; the film was able to have the best box office hold ever for an R rated horror film next to Get Out.
