People are still quite happily buying the Switch, there are plenty of new and upcoming games maintaining interest... Announcing a successor now would waste that momentum as prospective buyers opted to wait for that successor instead of buying a Switch. It just wouldn't be a sensible business move at this point. --- This is my signature.
