I've gotten alot further so a few things I have found that work really well.

Longbow or hornbow both are great for long range shooting, plain shortbow works great to get status effects (especially bleed) with Barrage.

The grafted greatsword from the morn castle (easy boss fight) is good initially but you need 27 strength to wield it in 2 hands. That isn't too bad though because you need 24 strength for the wyrm valcano sword which you get pretty soon after (which is my current favorite) anyway. I just put my strength up to 30 to make it even. The wyrm greatsword is freaking awesome and with my stats and +5 somber stone used (Still have not found a freaking +6 stone), it does about 400 damage a pop (freaking nice).

The grafted does less but it's good vs enemies who are strong against fire (sine the wurm does fire and physical), and the grafted oesn't require faith (I'm a faith build).

Lightning bolt is still my best faith spell and it tears things up. My faith is about 32 as well. I want to get that all the way up to 40 eventually but had to put a few points into endurance to keep medium rolls with the wyrm sword (and my starter armor) along with my talismans (turtle for stamina regen and +5 faith).

Nothing that I have seen beats shortbow with blood arrows for getting status effects on an enemy though using barrage. Seriously rocks on high hp monsters, though i don't really use it anymore since my wyrm sword does so much damage. I literally got the golden scarab when I ended up using all my FP and health potions to get to the enterance of the boss fight. I had nothing less because of the stupid rot that I got along the way. I had JUST enough FP left in fact, to summon the solves. I killed the first guy with my sword before the second guy even spawned, and got hit by 2 discs (not enough to kill me) before I took the second guy down with a sliver of health left (mind you a few days ago I tried the fight with full everything and failed).

Next up (and it'll take awhile) I wanna pump faith to 40, then vitality to 40, then start working on endurance for more stamina and to wear better defensive armor (and eventually more talismans). I think I can get another talisman slot right now by beating another boss from what I understand, and then you don't get the 4th till much later.

I currently have only 9 flasks, so that is another project I have, getting more flasks, just getting up to 12 would be amazing, but honestly I don't really have flask troubles usually anymore. My damage is high enough that I either die, or kill the enemy before running out. Still more is always good.

Finally, though I love my wolves, they blow, so , I need to eventually find a better summon. I have quite a few options that I have not tried yet, and I only upgraded the wolves to level 3. They were ok initially but everything almost one shots them now, often all 3 at once, so they need to be stabled I guess.
