Anything more then 2 weeks is asking too much in my opinion, unless she is a REALLY good friend (I'd say of both of you since your living together). It's not cool making you feel unable to be comfortable in your own home. If she does stay there, you could restrict the times she is in your home (to after 8pm or something), so you can at least relax etc during the day when your not working or something. Seriously though, forget about a hotel, I'm sure you guys could just help her rent a room somewhere for a few months (most places rent rooms for as little as $400 a month). If she can't afford it, I'd say that $400 a month is worth your privacy instead of having someone else in your house that you don't know.
