I don't really play that type of game, but I've noticed quite a bit of buzz about the announcement. I suppose people are pretty excited; has it been a while since the last one? The Age series is one of the big grand-daddies of RTS, and introduced a slower, more long-term planning element to the genre, in contrast to micro-input RTS play. It's also known for it's focus on historical context and pre-dated Star Craft by a year.
