Full disclosure: I watched some Inuyasha when it was on Adult Swim. I do not remember this character at all. I remember the schoolgirl, Inuyasha himself, the little fox guy, and the monk with a black hole in his hand, but not Sango. And I think I’d remember a girl with a boomerang the size of a person.

Looks-wise, Sango benefits from the generic anime cuteness effect. Not much to say, really. There are a million Sangos.

Personality-wise, it’s more complex. I’ve gone on record saying that I don’t like Yamato Nadesico characters and that I find them to be boring, but Sango manages to be an exception. Compassionate, kind, responsible, brave, etc, but the key here is that she follows tradition, and it just so happens that her family tradition is demon slaying. I appreciate that, that’s pretty neat, and it makes up for the negative qualities of the archetype. In fact, she actually loses on points because the Wiki takes a special moment to say “she had feminine emotions and weaknesses.” Come on, guy who wrote this. I’m not even a progressive type of person and that line is painful to read.

PWC-wise, well, she’s a demon-hunting adventurer. Nothing really to say about that. I don’t fight demons so I won’t be able to keep up with her, and I have no skills that would be of aid to a demon hunter. It doesn’t sound like this would work out easily.

Overall… I could imagine a relationship with her working, but it would be an uphill battle.
