I never knew about this before Alec posted a topic for sign-ups. I was on the fence about joining not because of a lack of interest and knowledge in baseball and management, those are unquestionably high, but because I anticipated not being available a lot from then on. The combination of Alec's coaxing and the fact that we were using not only my favorite baseball game ever, MVP Baseball, but a game in my Top 10 video games were enough to bring me on board.
I felt very confident about my chances because I felt that my vast experience of MVP Baseball 2005 would go a long way. This has been brought up a lot between Extha and voltch but if I have not put in 1000 hours into the game, then I am awfully close.
By using an assumption that playing a game takes 30 minutes, then we have this:
1. Dynasty Mode (file 1 with White Sox):
- Currently in 7th season (like 40 games in)
- Played every MLB game, no minor league, no spring training outside of mini-games, plus made it to the WS each season (minimum of 173 games played a season)
- Add 20 hours, may honestly be underestimating that figure, a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
2. Dynasty Mode (file 2 with Devil Rays)
- Currently in 3rd season (yet to start)
- Played in every MLB game, no minor league, so spring training outside of mini-games, played in the ALCS first season, WS second season (minimum of 169 for 1st season, 173 for 2nd)
- Add 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
3. Dynasty Mode (file 3 with Braves)
- Currently in 6th season (around 120 games in)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
4. Dynasty Mode (file 4 with Angels)
- Currently in 3rd season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
5. Owner's Mode (file 1 with White Sox)
- Currently in 4th season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
6. Owner's Mode (file 2 with Reds)
- Currently in 2nd season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently
Do the math and you get projected playing time, including prorated White Sox's 7th and Braves' 6th season, of nearly 1100 hours, which excludes time spent with friends, online exhibition, online leagues, observing games, and just tinkering around with how I play the game. I could easily have 1250 hours on this, which may not even be as much as I played Halo 2, but that's irrelevant.
