I'm worried that Bulbasaur might be hard to get anyway. Tsunami seemed happy enough when I checked up on him back on Route 4, but keeping him boxed at 0 HP might not be so good for his happiness--and seeing as how his sprite doesn't even appear on the map when he's at 0 HP, I'm not sure it would even be possible without violating the rules of the Nuzlocke and taking him to a Pokémon Center.
...How is it that even after evolving, Poka can't two-hit a level 14 Bellsprout? Oh, right, lack of Special split means that Growth that it used on the switch turn (Genesis now moves to the top of the party for more EXP, as she'll have to be my main for the Cerulean Gym now that Tsunami's gone) helps its Sp. Def. as well. Maybe I should only have Poka take care of the Oddishes and Venonats and send Hobo out for the Bellsprouts.
Genesis grows to level 13 and learns Wrap. Ah, man, continuous moves like Wrap were so broken in Gen I, at least against in-game trainers and wild Pokémon. Sure, you could switch Pokémon to escape, but you couldn't attack. Of course, the Pokémon using the move couldn't use other attacks either...
Well, still better than Rage, which not only locked you out of using other moves if you used it, but also locked you out of switching Pokémon or using items. Rage was not a move worth using in Gen I.

Good enough to venture further onto Route 25 and take on the trainers, I think. There are some Hikers out there, so hopefully they'll provide a good source of EXP for Genesis.
