Something CAN be easy and fun. It can also be nail-bitingly hard and fun. Encounters in D&D can be both. Personally I prefer the latter, unless the DM lets me know in advance that I'm gonna get to style like I'm Dante for the former. Nothing feels as clutch as praying that that last attack hits and then...DING. Crit!
