Alrighty, we've returned with some pictures now!

Our adventure of course started at the Georgia Aquarium. I have a video of the proposal as I said, but here are a few images that were captured by the photography team at Magic Memories:





For context purposes, how it went was there was a staged behind the scenes tour, of which we were the only guests. During this 45 minute-ish tour, the divers got in place in the tank and after the tour we were released into the main viewing area of the aquarium's largest tank and sat through the usual dive show Q&A. Following that, we played a set-up game of trivia in which we were preset to be chosen. The aquarium probably does receive a lot of proposals for the record. When I contacted them they came ready with a PDF file full of choices. This is probably the most popular sort of set-up I think; it gives you a great big audience and has the most natural feel I think. Our tour guide Benjamina was nice enough to pretend to want to watch the show so she could actually record the entire thing on my phone.

From there we had a nice dinner and went off to Disneyland the following morning. Bright and sunny SoCal was... wet 2/3 days. Especially day 2. We still had a lot of fun, and surprisingly we probably agree the second day was the best one.

On Saturday we visited the San Diego Zoo. Whenever we take a trip we almost always visit the major zoo in the area. We love zoos and this one was great. It's so huge though, and with so many animal species it was impossible to see all in one trip.

Almost 15 years ago I came to this website to upload a guide for Mortal Kombat: Deception. I didn't know it back then, but coming here would truly become a life altering decision. I ended up hanging around initially due to my interest in Cloud winning the character battle but following that I'd have raytan to thank for my continuing participation here (SMFFFC, of course). Over the years I've interacted with a lot of people here, positively and negatively at times. I've made great friends and have spent nearly half my life as a member of this board.

Around 8 years ago I met another user here, GenesisSaga. She was a fan of things I was and enjoyed the board games here most know as Save Mys. She messaged me one day about working together in an alliance in one of these, and that expanded to include more. Honestly, I was immediately intrigued even that long ago. I was not a very happy person, I was lonely and... well, here's a girl with like interests right here in front of me. It took quite some time, and one rejection, but as a lot of you know we started dating in early 2016. In that time my life has changed in so many ways. This has been the only relationship I've had where I never felt unsure of the other's feelings. Where I was actually made happy by someone else rather than by my own actions. I've been so many places, literally and metaphorically, that I never thought I'd go. Right now, we've landed in Disneyland. And I did so with my fiancee.

We never made a formal topic on the board about our relationship, but I did want to make this one. Yesterday was two years from the day we decided to take our friendship to the next level, and a little over a year since we moved in together. I proposed at the Georgia Aquarium, where we had our first physical date. I may share a video of it later since they kind enough to provide me with a recording.

I wanted to make this topic as not just an announcement, but as a thank you. To everyone on this board, friend, acquaintance, uh, others. I'm a big believer in the butterfly effect, and when I think of the journey that has led me here, I'm astonished at how many things could have altered the path. So thank you, thank you for being my home for all these years. I've been through the worst of times and the best of times right here. Without everything happening as it had, maybe I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't be here with my best friend, the love of my life, my soulmate. I can't imagine feeling more fulfilled, or so full of desire to live more. Here's to many more memories together board 8.

Image Changes:

I will now also take requests for image revisions on any character in the gauntlet. Just a few rules for it:

-This service is intended to "update" characters, meaning if you feel the image isn't as sharp or good as it could be due to new games or appearances for the character.

-Don't request changes just because you want a silly or goofy picture instead, or for any other reason. It has to be for the sake of making the character "updated".

-You don't need to make the image yourself, you can link me to the image you want it created from as a whole.

This shouldn't be a huge issue as I went through the gauntlet a long time ago and replaced a lot of images that were blurry or out of date, but I'm sure some still exist out there somewhere. Please keep the requests to 5 monthly if you find them.

Kind of both, ideally. It should be important to the character, as I like all KotM entrants to be for the category. Like, displays of drunkenness or seeing the effects of said intoxication would go a long way in helping the character's cause.

I personally thought Boba Fett could win, given how this was timed with a new Star Wars movie. That became evident as a long shot once the contest was underway though. My final 3 prediction was Boba/Samus/Spike in some order, and that was pretty accurate.

Bounty Hunters was my 22nd contest. I can't say I was pleased with it. In addition to having the lowest participation and the lowest finals voting, at least since the inception of these contests many years ago, there were just some general ho-hum moments. As the host I don't want to disparage someone's win in my own contest, but this victory always felt inevitable and it made for a very unhappy contest in my mind. It was tiresome and without much interest at all, all of which pretty much contributed to the lack of participation. That aspect of it is of course what's always bothering to me the most. Those of you that have played KotM over the last 7 years I've ran it probably aren't surprised to read something like this at the end of one of my contests. I won't say this is the end of anything or make a big deal of it; I just wish there were more interest I guess. These are meant to be fun. When they cease to be and instead become a chore, I get pretty bothered by it. Not much to do but put this behind us and continue on to the next chapter.
