For fun I thought I'd post an ordered list of the films I've seen and how I would have ranked them. I'm not gonna do proper writeups I guess though if anyone wanted an elaboration on one or more of them I guess I could make something up. If I had participated I would have rewatched Insidious, Sinister and V/H/S as I've said before. Going on what I recollect about them from many years ago with this:

Hereditary
Get Out
IT
The Babadook
It Follows
Happy Death Day
Train to Busan
A Quiet Place
Ready or Not
Halloween
Curse of Chucky
The Cabin in the Woods
The Conjuring
Don't Breathe
Us
Insidious
Sinister
The VVitch
Midsommar
Creep
The Lighthouse
V/H/S

I'm not too surprised but still a little disappointed at It placing this low. I feel like the only bad thing the first film was responsible for are the subpar remakes of Pet Sematary and Firestarter. So much else about that film was just so well executed. As many times as I have watched the original miniseries on VHS, if you find that a superior "film" then yeah, I just don't have words for that. From the horrible acting, the goofy special effects and the lack of a cohesive flow there's no way the miniseries could be deemed better. It exists as one of those things to evoke fun memories like "Kiss me fat boy!" and that's about it.

I'm a pretty big fan of the series, so yeah I think this is way too low. I feel of all the "big slashers" in horror cinema history, Michael Myers is the only one with what I consider to be at least 4 and maybe 5 pretty good to great movies. I will admit I personally am just biased towards the series as a whole, but I do feel the remake version on the list did justice to the original franchise.

That being said I do think Zombie's version was one of those good movies I spoke of. Just the first one though, not a fan of the second one so much.

Yeah, in reality it's more like 40% I think. Way too harsh on it. Very inoffensive film overall. The biggest crimes are probably the small amount of special effects (but it's a Blumhouse production so that can be expected) and the pacing. The movie starts off at like 100 mph and there's not much chance to do world/character building, but I definitely didn't find it "bad".

I'm pretty interested in Terrifier after that set of rankings. Really interesting to see it so widely disliked yet still have two top ten placements. Honestly I had never even heard of it before seeing it on this list. Also I feel Chucky deserved better. It's by no means excellent but I really enjoyed it as a good return to form for the Child's Play series.

In 2020's news; We saw it tonight, and Firestarter won't make the cut for that list. But it's by no means as bad as that RT score would had me believe. Pretty middling film overall.

I'd mention Antlers. Also His House, early on in the decade still, but I do wonder what impact Netflix and other streaming services might have on this decade of horror films.

Films I haven't seen:

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
You're Next
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
The Purge: Anarchy
Green Room
Split
Terrifier
Bird Box

I'd be uncomfortable ranking Insidious, Sinister and V/H/S since it was long ago I actually watched them. I feel confident enough in my memory for the other films that I could probably put them in order though. I'm pretty surprised with how many of the films I've seen. I'd say I have good feelings about the majority of this list, just a few that I'd consider a bit overhyped perhaps.

Because right now, there are only two: Us and Them.

I hate to say it, but that's just how it has to be. 95% of conservatives (probably more but I'm trying to be positive) are all brainwashed sheep by now. I used to think Republicans were bad historically but looking back at some of them from times before Trump's ascension to power makes me realize I was wrong back then. There's literally no hope for that party now because you have a very small handful of politicians who identify as Republicans that are even halfway quality people. Even if you just say "get rid of the parties", you still have this large collective of dummies who all think the same way anyway. It has to be "us vs. them", because in this case one of those groups is going to stick together in unity under madness no matter what. The only way to combat them is to stand against them in another group of people.

The entire system of the Supreme Court and how it's ran is the actual joke. Our very laws are dictated by random luck of who is president when they're able to catch the opposing party's judges dying so they can fill their seats with their own agendas. It's a bad system that will always mire civil liberties in this country. It is in dire need of a reformation.

I feel like I can relate some to what you're talking about. I feel a lot of people who have friend circles that exist outside of the internet don't really understand quite as well what a group of online friends can mean to someone. I grew up in a very, very small town in a geographic area that would largely contain people I'm not going to connect with very well. Obviously there were some, but the majority of my friends for most of my life have always been online. Needless to say, the past year and some months of my life have been pretty lonely. I've tried putting my time and efforts into other activities, and I've made a handful of friends by doing that along the way, but reminiscing of old times with people I met on this board years ago always makes me long for those days.

Granted, your situation was just watching groups dwindle whereas with me I took an active role in stepping away on purpose. While we did share one such group that shrank, I know you and I personally had only passing interactions. That being said I always considered you a reassuring constant in those days I remember most fondly, specifically days where gauntlets were still played and we had only just started the list projects. That was probably my favorite overall time on the internet; those days where a group of people played some games and also ranked some films together. Even if our interests may not have aligned know I valued your participation and presence during all those things.

It's a sad situation. I can relate to the WoW stuff since the guild I was once in is all gone but one person that I still play with on a casual level now. I don't really have any words of wisdom or advice; I wish I did, but if I did I wouldn't be in the spot I am in now in terms of my friendships. I guess mostly I just wanted to share and say I empathize.

I liked it.

If you tell yourself that it's not any sort of retelling of an existing story and that it's more of an origin story that stands alone, then you won't be disappointed with it I think. Tom Holland is okay in the role; I think he just has to grow into it by aging (if they make this a film series, and it's turned a decent profit so that's possible). I actually think Wahlberg is pretty good here as Sully also; they share a pretty good chemistry together on screen. The story is pretty standard and nothing special, but it's shot pretty well and has some fun physics defying action scenes that reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean. As a fan of that, I appreciate this movie more than I thought I would when I heard Tom Holland had been cast as Nathan Drake.

I was ready to post "I shouldn't have said anything", especially with the refs sending Embiid to the line 5 more times than our entire team combined, but somehow we found a way to win. Usually we find ways to lose, and that really looked to be the case again.
