My dad (who would have been among the last group) volunteered at a vaccination site and they gave him the vaccine the same day at the end of the shift. Probably depends on your location.

because no one who eats at a restaurant really cares

While I don't generally eat at indoor restaurants, I do go to coffee shops that are less crowded to get work done and will sometimes eat outdoors at places with patios (I've been fully vaccinated for about a month now). I always feel like I'm the only one there who actually wears a mask.

at restaurants/bars/coffee shops etc? Like I get it, you have to take it off to eat/drink, but what about the whole time you're sitting and not eating/drinking? Why is it not a rule that people are only allowed to take their mask off when taking a bite/sip and then immediately have to put it back on? Wouldn't be that hard. People acting like being seated at the table automatically makes them immune from covid.

That choice between Dijkstra and Roche dying is f***ing hard. I really wanted to help the north and f*** over Nilfgaard, and planned to let Dijkstra rule, but in the moment I just couldn't let him kill Roche and friends. It didn't feel right and I feel like Geralt would never abandon Roche in that situation. Now I'm wondering if I should go back to my previous save file and let it play out the other way. Ughhhh

Let's pump the breaks on "no side effects"

No one's claiming no side effects. But so far, there's no reason to think there's any worse side effects than other common vaccines. Sure, it's possible there's long-term side effects, but unlikely. You're much more likely to get long-term effects from covid.

Do you as a doctor trust this particular version of the vaccine in it's current state

Yes. I had a bit of healthy skepticism at first, but after looking at the data and hearing from respected doctors at my facility who know a lot about these things, I see no reason not to trust it. People are concerned that it was developed too quickly, but forget that most of the work was already done with the SARS/MERS vaccine development several years ago. And major side effects seem to be very rare, I'm much more worried about getting covid than I am about vaccine side effects.

still wear a mask? do you require a second shot?

Yes, it's a two-shot series so we get a second shot 3 weeks after the first. And we are still wearing masks, immunity takes a few weeks to kick in and you don't get the full protection until after the second shot. But I imagine we'll still be wearing masks until most of the general population gets vaccinated.

As a doctor, nothing I've seen about the side effects really scares me. Anaphylaxis/severe allergic reactions can happen with the flu vaccine too. It's a very minimal risk and places that administer the vaccines should (hopefully) have Epipens available just in case.

As for Bell's Palsy, it's generally temporary (ie a few weeks) and won't kill you.

Even left-wing, pro-vaccine people seem to be hesistant about getting the vaccine. Don't see how we get to the 60-70% of the population needed for herd immunity anytime soon if this sentiment prevails.

We should be looking at it this way: by getting the vaccine, you may be preventing deaths. Yeah, part of me is anxious too about how quickly the vaccine is being rolled out (especially since I'm a front-line healthcare worker and will be one of the first to be offered it), but I also feel like I need to do my part to end the pandemic.

I kinda doubt it. We need about 75% of the population to get vaccinated for that to happen. I feel like most Republicans won't get it (not concerned about COVID to begin with), and even a lot of democrats (vaccine rolled out too quick). Which is unfortunate. I'll probably be getting it within the next month or so, hopefully more people will do their part to end the pandemic.

The party's values are literally opposite the core values of Christianity (loving thy neighbor, providing for the weak/poor, etc). I have nothing against Christianity in itself, but it seems like so many people twist it or cherry pick things like gay marriage to fit their own values. Like how can you call yourself a good Christian and simultaneously want to kick out all the illegals?

a lot of people thought summer would slow it down... nope. you really gotta wonder if it ever goes away. a vaccine would be the miracle cure right now and its probably years away. this is the new norm get used to it folks

What makes you say that? Even the experts are saying a vaccine is likely to be approved by the end of the year. Positive results in the early trials for a few of the candidates. But it will probably take another several months after one is approved for it to be avaiable to the general public.
