I would say hype is defined as a rapid increase in posts realitive to the norm over a defined timeframe

The question then is how sensitive it is, too sensitive and it's buying up yam and yam stocks, not sensitive enough and you're too late.

Yeah, if this proves to be an effective strategy. Someone will just make a computer program to buy up whatever stock is being hyped up by reddit before the average user can, so the average user will left holding the bag. I can see this ending badly pretty fast for people.

How do you mathematically define what "hype" is?
Frequency that it shows up?

What does investing in gamestop stock have to do with gamestop? It is not like this is an ipo or anything. The company is not benefiting too much from this increased price point . Anyways I doubt there are all that many people concerned with gamestop, certainly my boomer parents don't care. Furthermore, let's be real, computers are the main thing that does volume now a days. The whole thing makes no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is some type of astroturfed pump and dump scheme at this point. The amount of money put into the stock is ludicrous. It is far more than the common man driving up the stock.

$600 stimulus check, plus giving people the tools to actually buy into stocks, plus a very clear direction (+support), and a... honestly deeply malicious view for the companies that are involved.

You don't need to prove much of anything. It's common, easily observable knowledge that a significant number of people have bought into the election fraud lie, a lie which has included blaming Dominion's service for allowing the alleged fraud to take place. It's perfectly reasonable to presume that some of those people will end up making decisions that will influence Dominion's business interests moving forward. Even if we presume that absolutely nobody worldwide has been so duped that would be in a position to actually sign a contract with them (which is a stretch), the people in question are voters who have the power to influence who Dominion gets to sign contracts with moving forward, so there's still clear potential for damages there.

Is it conclusively $1.3b? Maybe, maybe not. But suits like this usually highball the damages number because it almost always gets negotiated down by the time it's settled, especially if it's settled out of court. The final number may yet change, but it's pretty indisputable that Giuliani et al have committed defamation.

Even if the people in charge don't believe it, there has got to be significant pressure from their constitutions to move brands, which they may do.
That's loss of income.

This book had an interesting theory:

http://www.amazon.com/Lessons-21st-Century-Yuval-Harari/dp/0525512195

It pretty much boils down to the idea that most people today have been left completely bewildered and unbalanced by the growing disruptions caused by technology and the loss of cultural narratives that were once comforting illusions, and we're all mostly just freaking the fuck out until we can come up with another story to define the universe with. Because humans basically see everything through the lens of narrative, even when it's kind of bullshit.

Yeah that feels like "old man yells at clouds".
People weren't suddenly more pure and wholesome before we could talk to someone 500 miles away, people have always gotten angry and riot-y, and then things changed.
It's a cycle of the world, the internet hasn't changed that fact, just made it more noticeable.

Oh yeah, I 100% should have been adding in some butter.

I enjoy some nice frozen peas with a bunch of stuff, I'm just sure when I should add them to have a nice crisp to them. I'm afraid that when I add the sauce on top and cook the chicken the rest of the way the veggies will just collapse into a mush.

Indian restaurants use a curry base so you should too. Much easier, more consistent. You can just buy that at a grocery store.

I fry 2 lb of broken up chicken on high with a quarter stick of butter and a generous amount of salt and pepper until cooked and then throw in a jar of curry with heat on low for a couple of minutes. I mix it in with some rice made with chicken broth as well as your typical stir fried veggie mix. It's killer every time.

I don't use butter when I use the jarred stuff, but I also marinade it for half a day or so, in a baggie after I dice up the chicken. Then I just cook the chicken, I think marinating helps out a whole bunch, I tried it out without doing it a few times, it wasn't nearly as baked into the chicken.
I don't add veggies, but I probably should.

I've been working on it on and off for a few years now, and I know the basics, it's just when I sit down with a recipe and work on it, somehow it always ends up bland to bad. I know I can do a decent premade curry because I will get the jarred stuff (Patak's) and it works out great.

I recently tried this:
https://www.budgetbytes.com/slow-cooker-chicken-tikka-masala/

It's pretty bad, a solid 3/10. Maybe the garam masala I got was bad (brand was Shan, I got it from my local indian spice shop), but I seriously can't figure out for the life of me what the hell I'm doing wrong.

I know that it's using more traditional indian curry vs british curry, but, honestly, I just want to be able to make one decently.

From what I've read you don't need to put a lot of salt in for boiling water. Having some in for surface area or something helps (I forget what I read but eh a little won't hurt regardless), but a ton most likely (unless you're crazy) be enough to raise the boiling point.

It helps out temporarily with the extra surface area for more bubbles to form, you can do a similar thing with beer/pop, apparently.

But you're more looking to add salt to the pasta itself, so I add a decent amount of salt once it's going.

I'll save a bit of pasta water for when I'm finishing up the sauce. Even if it's an old wives tale of helping emulsify the sauce, it does help make it a bit nicer from what I've seen, so it's not a biggie.
Plus the water boils out anyway, so whatevs.

Rods of God are an actual military thing, whether or not it's actually implemented I'm not sure, but, it shows up occasionally in scifi media.
Basically you have a tungsten rod in orbit, and then drop it directly on the target. About the same explosive capability as a nuclear weapon without the radioactive fallout and the precision of dropping a big stick from orbit with a computer (aka very good), plus, unlike atomic weapons, it won't fail to explode on impact.

The crazy nutter shit though is another thing, but, rods from god is an actual thing. It's also called orbital bombardment.
