I honestly didnt have that drive to go right after high school, so I took a few years off just to work and make some money. Should have made it only one or two years. By the time I was ready to go to school... I got hurt. So I had to put school off. Then I got hurt again, and had to continue putting school off. So now Im finally in a place where Im in school (and fortunately my union offers a free college program) and I should be graduating next year. But Ill be 32. With only an Associates. Definitely look into it. Or if you arent going to go to college right away, work somewhere else besides a fucking grocery store (which has destroyed me mentally AND physically). I, unfortunately, didnt have many options. --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! |

I didnt figure out what happened the first semester, because why assume the teacher is screwing you over, and turned in every single assignment in the second semester by shoving it in her face before placing it in the box. Then she claimed I turned in nothing again, only this time I found my entire folder sitting in the trash behind her desk. The third semester for some reason I cant fathom I assumed she wasnt about to do it again but low and behold I didnt turn anything in again and this time I couldnt find my folder in the trash or in the dumpster out back. I got a C in that class and I never did homework again all the way through high school because I learned there wasnt any point to do it. Wtf --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! |

I wasted my late teens and my 20s working for something that isnt even worth it. Ive never had a real relationship, and Ive only ever had the one job so I dont even know what other kind of job to look for. And now that I have rent and other obligations, I cant be job hopping and starting off at low pay again. Thats not to say I dont still enjoy things. Its just that sometimes when Im playing games or watching movies, Ill be thinking I really like this, but couldnt (or shouldnt) I be doing something better with my limited time? I dunno, its definitely weird to explain. --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! |

| rexcrk 11/20/19 3:14:37 PM #6 | I work at a grocery store lol. I know it doesnt sound like its much but trust me, working at a grocery store in real life is not like the TV shows lol. I was hired to work at a specific store (which works out well because its fairly close to where I live) and do very specific work. I guess that was a joke because for a few weeks now, theyve had me going to other stores in the chain (some of which are twice + as long as my usual commute) and doing work I wasnt hired to do, with no extra compensation for gas or anything (and of course Im losing all that extra time). And its draining me emotionally and physically. Not to mention its really ramping up my anxiety. I thought about talking to a union rep, but honestly I dont know how much good it will do. Ill probably just end up pissing off my company and getting transferred god-knows-where. I should have definitely gone to school years ago. I meant to, and then it was always one thing after another that kept that from happening. At least Ive only got one year left. Hopefully just having any sort of degree will land me something better. --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! |

The reason I cant quit is because I dont have any qualifications and there arent even really many jobs in my area anyway. I need to have money coming in because I live on my own and have rent and other expenses to worry about. But the other reason I cant just quit is because my union is paying for college. The good news is I only have one year of that left (by this time next year I should be finishing up my last semester) but still. Its really awful being in a shitty situation that you just cant really do anything about. Stay in school, kids. --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! |
