The Shire and really all of middle earth felt so real. It had a lot of characters to introduce and it made them feel like actual people rather than just like fellowship member #7. The tonal shifts are really something going from happy and merry to an epic adventure, to grief, and to end with optimism and friendship. The 3rd only suffers a bit from its epilogue rapping things up in the last hour dragged a bit but it definitely had the best cinematography and grand sweeping shots of the trilogy. Southernfatman 11/30/19 7:47:45 PM #42:	Fellowship has that feeling of going on an adventure that the others don't because the other two are a bit more "serious" for lack of a better term. Fellowship is relatively light-hearted. Plus, as a Tolkien fanboy, it has less stuff for me to get mad about. How they added in Arwen was dumb and ultimately takes away a bit form Eowyn's character and arc, but it's not that bad. Originally she was going to be fighting at Helm's Deep. Thankfully that didn't happen.
