Ok but TLJ also has this weird thematic issue where it's building towards Rey and Kylo "meeting in the middle" and rejecting both the darkness and the light, and then kinda just dropping that in the last 15 minutes and undoing its own development. Not to mention Rose's whole anti-heroic sacrifice thing bookended by sacrifices the film presents as heroic. Thematically, the film has no idea what it wants or what it's doing.
