Been stuck in editing hell for over two years now. I have the book written from start to finish, but I was still figuring stuff out as I went along and it's a futuristic setting that was pretty complicated to figure out all the moving parts of, so there are a lot of contradictions to iron out. Also changed the plot a few times -- all for the better, but it's made for a metric fuck-ton of revision and I'm burning myself out.

Supposed to be a trilogy, so I can only hope that the next two will be easier now that I've figured it all out and set a bunch of world details in stone.

My fiancee's parents did a wine tasting to determine what wine we should order for the wedding. They did a blind taste test for whites and for reds and since I don't drink wine I set it up.

Did the whites like I was supposed to, then poured the same red three times and got a different verdict each time.

Wine tasting is bullshit.

My feelings vary on a case by case basis.

If the guy's not actually ok with it and just desperate to please the woman, Ick.

If that's his fetish, I think it's weird but whatever. Works for them.

A mature open relationship with good communication that's equal on both sides is honestly preferable to monogamy.

This is if you buy the same exact s*** in mass quantities every week or month. The problem is that you want fresh and varied as well. Having to eat teriyaki grilled chicken every few days would suck.

Uh no, this is for a different meal every day of the week, and there's nothing stopping you from picking all different meals the next weeks either. How does going to the grocery store TWICE A WEEK mean buying the same stuff in bulk quantities? You're being silly.

Also I ran out of planned meals yesterday and didn't want to go shopping today so I'm cooking up some dal with just random stuff I had lying around. Like, it's cooking while I respond. Delicious, healthy, cheap, and the ingredients keep well.

I don't considered grilled chicken sandwiches to be tasty, filling, and wholesome.

Let's assume 2 hours of food prep on average (way more than any reasonable average). Since most things that take 2 hours involve waiting for things to cook, we can do most of our cleanup during that time. Then half an hour of cleanup at the end.

17.5 hours.

Add in a grocery run. Actually, make it two so your ingredients are super fresh. Assume you're a super slow shopper so it takes 2 hours per trip. And you live half an hour away from the grocery store, so 2 hours total driving time.

23.5 hours.

And you're also super indecisive so it takes you a full hour to plan a week of meals.

We're still under 25 hours and we've taken a ludicrously long time at every step of the process.

You dont need to be rich not to eat like shit.

No, you don't have to be rich. But you'll need to spend at least 30 hours per week to procure and prepare the materials needed to create meals that are healthy, wholesome, TASTY, and fresh.

I'll agree that proper food prep takes a while, probably a prohibitively long time for some, but 30 hours a WEEK? Even my longest estimate is way shorter than that.

Why not lower taxes to let people keep more of what they earn??

There are several pretty compelling reasons.

1: It is 99% impossible to earn money without taking advantage of public services the government provides for free, using taxpayer money. Therefore, the government is entitled to a share of the profit they helped facilitate, and use that share to continue helping you earn more profit.
2: As American capitalism progresses, money tends to congregate in ever-greater proportions at the very top. It's easy to make money if you already have money, while poor folks have to sell their land and lease from the buyer (for example) just to survive. Progressive tax rates help offset this imbalance, which is a social good because
(a): poor people spend the money they get at higher proportions than wealthy people, which means more money is cycling through the economy, making a stronger economy (and raising wealthy peoples' stock portfolios!)
(b): when enough poor people feel like their best shot at survival is revolution, society literally collapses.
3: we have decided, as a nation, that we're going to make an effort (how much of an effort varies between administrations) to help people in our society who, for whatever reason, can't take care of themselves. In order to do that, we need money -- hence, the gathering of taxes.

If you're asking about cutting taxes of the poor and middle class, and compensating by raising taxes on the wealthy... well, we can't do that because wealthy people have bought our politicians and would rather not have their taxes raised. But I doubt you meant that, because people who throw around "lower taxes" rhetoric never do.

I probably spent too long replying to a thoughtless shitpost, but on the offchance that you actually want to discuss this, I'm happy to.

For the romance question, no ethical non-monogamy/triad option biases some more lawful folks towards the "chaos" option for sure, for example.

I think self-selection is honestly more accurate here, with the caveat that most people in modern society are gonna fall into one of NG/LN/TN
