Definitely appreciate that you shouted out Melee's single player content. I know modes like Subspace and World of Light has its fans but they were both slogs to me. Probably one of the more disappointing moments in Brawl (other than the obvious stuff like tripping) was finding out that the bonus stages like btt was homogenized.

The mechanical stuff in Melee makes for a great competitive experience but also enhances the single player content.

Melee break the targets world record stuff is so sick

The more accessible/easier to get into songs will prob suffer more eg pop songs.

Whereas instrumentals and songs with effects like obscured vocals/screams benefit since they don't register as heavily

I'm still catching up with this when I can. I reached Klonoa's entry and what can I say but wahoooo

I first played through 2 on ps2 when I borrowed it from a friend and was kind of mindblown at how much fun I had with it at the time. Bought klonoa 1 two different times on ps2 and vita and spent the next 10+ years wishing 2 would get ported just so I could play it again and relive the magic.

Then it finally got ported and yeah it turns out it (expectedly) did not live up to the hype in my mind but it is still so incredibly charming that I'd probably still rank it around top 30 personally.

Still think one of the more jarring vg moments I experienced was in the Wii release of Klonoa when they decided to give him a speaking voice. No thanks

Caught sight of some of the later games and whoo there are some other favs coming up

I dont think most of the other shadow characters in Persona are necessary since most are actually obsolete and theres no reason to play them. But yeah Shadow Chie and Naoto are fun to see

Also I dont think Dead or Alive was mentioned at all.

Yeah Under Night was getting a lot of talk around it when it came out for being good. And I actually had to buy a copy on JP PSN at the time. Really cool meter battling system (GRD) and a lot of the characters are interesting mechanically. Those 4 I mentioned are personal favs (I also forgot about Carmine who fights with his blood) but even the ones I dont care about like Vatista have something interesting about them (she's a charge character where you have to charge from up to down) for example.

Dengenki Bunko is just whatever anime characters you like. I only played it for a little bit so I wouldn't know too much if certain characters are more relevant or anything like that.

I think that's a fine list for Def Jam if you aren't going to include everyone. If I had to cut the list down I would at least include everyone who had a "role" aka weren't playing themselves in the story. So in addition to the ones already mentioned, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe. Omar Epps, Ice T, Henry Rollins is just funny too
