Not much to update but SHE GETS TO GO HOME TODAY!!

She's recovering very well, after 3 rest days at the hospital they're ready to let her go home. Her pain is subsided to a 5-6/10 range, which is manageable with prescription pills.

Her finding out she gets to go home! Fuck yea she's great and I'm sure all the positives thoughts and energy from here helps as well! Thanks everyone!

Talk about a gift! Today is her birthday! She did well yesterday. She was up, she was talkative and laughing and overall in a good mood. I'm sure the pain meds were helping lol but I'm so happy she's ok.

Today she turns 35, kind of annoying the hospital only lets 2 people in her room at a time and won't even let her daughter see her (they won't let anyone under 16 visit) but we'll try do something when she's released this weekend.

She is out of surgery. I just got to her room. She's asleep.

Surgery very well they said They removed her uterus, appendix and all the tumors they were able to see. She has 3 more chemo sessions scheduled to kill anything that remains, but they are positive of her outcome.

I always look away. When I worked at American Red Cross I worked as someone who helps set up blood drive by bringing in equipments and such.

After a few years there they decided they wanted me to also collect the bloods from donors. So I learned phlebotomy and became a certified phlebotomist but the whole time I trained I never got used to having to watch the needle go in. I ended up leaving the job.

Quick summary; Dec 30, 2022 she found out she has tumors growing around her pelvic area, after a week of testing they confirmed it was ovarian cancer, stage 4. She went thru 3 rounds of chemo and responded very well to it. So today she's having the surgery to get the cancer out. She is having a hysterectomy and they'll do whatever they need to get the other tumors out. It's going to be a long 8-9 hr procedure. All I can do now is wait.

We're excited and anxious about the surgery next week! It's going to a long day and maybe 4-8 weeks for recovery. But we do have something to look forward to, in June we had booked a vacation to one of those resorts in the DR, she wanted to get away as soon as she's able to. It'll be nice to relax.

Sadly tho, this Friday her grandfather passed away. It's really hit her and her mother hard. They're not able to fly to Brazil for his funeral, but the family understands why. He was a good flawed person. He was mayor of their town from 97-2004, he's had it all and lost it all.

Hey also, might be rare, but there is a survival rate for Stage 4 cancer patients.

My wife has Stage 4 ovarian cancer, but she responded very well to the chemo and has surgery scheduled for April 10! The docs were happy with her response, but her age (34) and health had alot of helping with it too.

I don't know your family dynamic but I would pull her mom to the side and ask her to not bother your wife with those comments if they're upsetting your wife.

Quick back story about her mom, kind of makes you understand why she's like that and bit overbearingly.

First there's a language barrier between us, she speaks Brazilian Portuguese, we can communicate on simple things but big conversation my wife usually translate, and she doesn't want to upset her mom by telling her to back off.

But there's more, my wife also has 2 brothers, one is autistic and one is adopted. The autistic brother was actually a twin but they were born premature, the brother twin died. At the same time their housekeeper was also pregnant but could take care of the child so she wanted abort it, my MOL told her she had just lost a baby, have her baby and she will raise her child as twins, so the 2 boys were raised as twins. A few years later she had also lost a second infant a few weeks after birth. With my wife being her first and only daughter, there's very little I can do to make her change certain things and I don't feel right trying too. She beens through a lot, with many scars, I have to take a step back on her.

Dont want to take anything away from your your wife and your topic but I know what its like. My wife has been battling breast cancer for the last 2 years, multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation, etc etc.

We saw he docs yesterday, they are ready for surgery! They have it scheduled for April 10th! Which is one day before her birthday April 11th!! It's going to be an emotional but happy day!!

Sadly they didn't take the caterer tubing from her kidney, infact the clean it and put a new one on. She was very upset about that, it wasn't a good weekend. She hates it and fought with her doctors about it, but in the end I think she knew it was best. She just feels like if she has that bag on cancer is winning. Cancer changed the way she looks, she's bald, losing weight and has this bag. She just doesn't feel like herself anymore, she feels ugly and useless.

I'm trying my best to comfort her but I'm kind of just letting her rant about that, only because her mom is the opposite and thinks God and the universe will save her, (which she hates having to hear 12+hrs a day, when I'm at work).

Luckily, I think her spirits might rise up this weekend, we're having a fundraiser for her with family and friends, put on by her old red cross friends so she's excited to see them. One big ticket prize is a pair of Bruin's playoff tickets! It's gunna be fun!

She's been feeling a bit of discomfort since she gotten the PCN bag removed, a bit of pressure towards to front, but that's expected since they took the bag off. She has a procedure to remove the rest of the tubing out so she's looking forward to that, she'll be able to lay down comfortably on her back again.

Next week so has an appt to schedule her surgery but she has is scheduled for chemo #4 Friday next week too, we're not sure if they'll just cancel it in favor of just moving to surgery.

Me myself, I started talking to a therapist on betterhelp which is nice. But since Sunday I've only slept roughly 4 hrs, I can't seem to shut my mind off and I don't want to take any sleep meds because I still need to work. Maybe I'll take something early tonight.

I know everyone has an opinion on tattoos with someone's name or face on it, but she means everything to me, and no matter what happens, she'll always be by me.

A bunch from 2022 when my wife's father passed away, when my cousin passed away, when my wife child patient passed away, when my grandmother passed away.

Then for 2023 when I found out my wife has Stage 4 cancer.

Not so much to report on. She's been feeling kind of tired and sore, but that's likely from the chemo. Nothing to be concerned about, which is awesome! She's in good spirits tho, had some friends visit and some plans with family this weekend she's excited about!

On Saturday she went to one of those fringe voodoo heal doctors. She said it was alright but a bit crazy, but she not gunna go there again lol

UPDATE: Today she is doing chemo #4 but before hand her doc come in and talks to her. But she came with great news today, after 2 rounds of chemo they said she has shown significant improvements!! They have had meetings about getting her into surgery after she recovers from today's chemo session.

The tumors around her belly have all shrunk, much faster than anticipated. Only concern now is some fluids around her lungs, but it's not cancer fluids they said. They usually don't consider surgery for someone with stage 4, but because of her improvements and her age (34) they feel strongly about getting her in!

Quick update:
We've been home since Wednesday morning. And everything is going ok, they gave her meds for the infection (amoxicillin). She's had a little discomfort since she's been home but that usual, the blood in the bag seems to have gone away, which is great. She has her next chemo session this Friday.

I'll be off from work til after that session, so hopefully these time off will help me relieve some stress.

Hey y'all, sadly my wife's been in the hospital since Monday. We're hoping she gets to leave today The nephrostomy tube/bag with blood became a concern and we went to the ER Monday, they're doing more test but they believe it's an infection.

I'm in the cafeteria of the hospital right now, she's in her room with her mom, waiting for meds, they need to do an EKG scan and hopefully she can go home afterwards.

I sort of had a mental breakdown over the weekend, my doctor think I should take a month off from work, not sure if I will tho. I was just feeling overwhelmed by all of this (and other family stuff) We both kind of had a breakdown, it's been an emotional few months, we never really had time to deal with the feelings.

So this week she's had her ups and down. The good thing is isn't vomiting unlike the first time she did chemo. There was a bit of blood in her nephrostomy tube/bag so we were concerned but that eventually went away. But she's been in good spirits for the most part, just tired obviously.

So funny thing happened yesterday. My mother is old school, very Asian lol Anyways I remember a few years ago she caught me smoking weed (I was 33 at the time btw) and she lectured about how I'm going to be lazy and criminal and bring trouble to the family. Well guess who stopped by yesterday with a handful of edibles for my wife lol Apparently one of her friend's daughter used edibles when she was fight cancer too. So weed is cool now and I get to tease her about being a drug dealer

She got a good night's rest. She's gonna go get her fake nails removed today with my sister, they said it's best to get rid of them because the real nails underneath could crack and get infected but they won't know if there's fake nails on it.

Update: Today was chemo #2, and she did awesome! No reactions! She feels so good she actually at a store with her mom right now, right after leaving chemo.

A few weeks ago she was dealing with extreme pain, mostly from the liquid build up around her adominal area. She's had to have it drained a few times, which always ended up with her staying in the hospital for the rest of the week. Well she went last week and they told her she doesn't need paracentesis at the moment, in fact it's slowed down so much they don't think she'll need it again for awhile. Chemo is definitely helping!

Next week we have appointments with 2 teams from Dana Farber, and she'll continue her treatments with best in our area! (And country!)

She starts chemo Friday, everything got moved up about a week since she's at the hospital already. She getting the port put into her arm so she could start chemo on Friday, next week will get the port in her chest and continue chemo with that instead.

She's happy she gets to go home and be an outpatient altho her doc was trying to get her to be an inpatient. But very sad about losing her hair. Chemo every 21 days for 3 months and surgery after for the remainder.

Thanks for the well wishes! She's is doing good, a lot better than me emotionally. I have a lot of family support but I still have emotional moments throughout day. It's tough to watch her suffer and even more frustrating when it doesn't seem like the hospital is moving fast enough!

Luckily we live in Rhode Island, and have a cousin who works at Dana Farber in Boston, we're doing everything we can to get her in there, but running into insurance issues right now.

The doc's says she's in good shape, they seemed optimistic but I've only seen them a few times. We haven't even started talking to the doc about the chemo plan, that's been postponed because she's getting the post for it put in tomorrow.

I made a post awhile ago, been purged since but they found cancer in her pelvic area the Friday before new year. Last week they confirmed it ovarian cancer stage 4.

She's been given pain medication for when she's home but she complained about pain and shortness of breath so I took her to the ER Monday. They drained more fluids (they drained some 10 days ago) to help with the pain.

They had to cancel and push some procedures for today because she didn't need one anymore (her kidney are working normo so they didn't want to cut into it, there's a blockage of the tube from the tumors, so there's a little urine build up) and tomorrow she will get the port for chemo put into her chest.

She's in good spirits tho, more people are finding out so she's getting visitors and flowers.

We found out before the new year my wife has cancer, and this past Thursday confirmed that it's stage 4.

My wife just had a quick procedure today. They drained about 5 liters of liquid from around her pelvic and lungs. They took almost 3 liter from around the tumor behind her cervix.

She feels ssooooo much better. She's still sick and tired but she not bloated, she feels good. She has some more appointments tomorrow, that sadly, I cannot be there with her because of work.
