Foo Fighters - Let it Die

It builds in layers throughout the song until about two thirds through, when it has the noticeable pause, then cranks it up for the rest of the song.

0:00 - 1:02 = Vocals & light guitar riffs only
1:02 - 1:41 = Light drums added
1:42 - 1:55 = Bass & drum pedal added
1:56 - 2:11 = Song seemingly teases kicking in
2:12 - 2:38 = Tones it back a bit while slowly building
2:39 - 2:42 = The pause, reverting back to the first stage momentarily
2:43 = Really kicking in

Interesting, thanks for sharing

Found a few more:
Modern English - "I Melt with You"
Cake - "Short Skirt, Long Jacket"
Vengaboys - "We Like to Party!"
Whitney Houston's - "I Will Always Love You."
Semisonic - "Closing Time"
Outkast - "Hey Ya"

Not sure if it counts:
"Turn down for What?"

It might be called a "Grand Pause" or "Fermata"...

I feel like I'm missing some big examples though.

You hate Voyager that much? It's just TNG lite. If you approach the show without thinking about continuity it's not bad. It has some great episodes to go along with some really bad ones. People forget that TNG has some horrible episodes as well.

One episode that might be my favorite is "Think Tank", a great stand alone episode where George Contanza from Seinfeld plays a role. This group of aliens that are far beyond the technological level of any species in the Delta Quadrant (are they from another galaxy?) try to get Seven of Nine to join them.

I don't hate voyager, I just think it's worse than enterprise. Particuarly ENT S3/S4 (excluding finale).

VOY is the dumbest trek series and one of trek's selling points is that it's intelligent.

It still has some good episodes like blink of an eye and year of hell, etc. But overall personally I put ENT higher.

Yeah, watching generations helps on that front. Generations is watchable, and honestly as a script outline it's a great idea, just rubbish execution.

I already seen all of it it's fantastic

Ok, after DS9 it gets debatable.

My ranking was
TNG >= DS9 > TOS >= ENT > VOY
Or alternatively
TNG >= DS9 > ENT(S3/4) > TOS > ENT(S1/2) >= VOY

Though I don't consider the finale of ENT to be canon.

This is a good point - all TNG movies were criticized for making Picard more "actiony" as they needed to follow the standard movie three act structure. Given his extensive history in the show of finding/standing by peaceful solutions, it was a bit of a character break.

Yep.

The one good thing about watching the TNG movies is that afterwards you can watch the Plinkett reviews of them.

Also TC, let me know when you've finished the movie, I want to share a south park clip you'll now appreciate.

About a year ago I left TNG at All Good Things, possibly the greatest television finale ever. Now I miss them though, so I'm gonna watch this movie. This is apparently among the better ones!

It's probably the best of the TNG 4, with generations probably being the second best.

But it's not really TNG. Though to be fair some parts of S7 were becoming a bit more "movie TNG".

Agreed. Mark has different strengths. Particularly with things like crosswords. But the division seems to be Mark = "fast workhorse, solve speed is goal", Simon = "Intelligent art appreciator, soaking up the puzzle's elegance is the goal."

And so as a setter, particularly how I like to make puzzles, I'd want a Simon solve.
