I remember our brother @joe40001 did the same thing and got tore to shreds.

These people don't think long term at all.

What do you mean tore to shreds?

He was criticized heavily for his water fast which led to him melting down over the span of a hundred posts.

You people are completely unaware that this is only a temporary solution (not even a healthy one) so every ounce of criticism you get is highly justified.

Yeah, I'd more say I responded to all the people which is why the topic got so big.

Same kind of people came out here. People who's advice to lose fat involves lots of grains are probably not the best to listen to.

Water fasts particularly ones supplemented with vitamins and something like a bone chicken broth which keeps your protein up so you don't lose muscle are healthy and very effective for weight loss. As with anything it's probably good to keep supervised but my doctor was totally ok with me doing it. Then 100 people came out of the gfaqs woodwork to tell me how they know more than my doctor. The food pyramid they learned 20 years ago isn't thought to be as perfect anymore, particularly when it comes to weight loss but they would hear none of it, and so it got under my skin and I did take the time to respond to each of them.

Yeah, I think most level headed people see the praise BP got as more of a consequence of it's cultural significance than it's quality, not to say it's a bad movie, just not particularly amazing when you remove the cultural significance.

Particularly when parts of the depression come from what I find to be true in my outlook.

Without knowing the details of your therapy, a more structured approach like cognitive behavioral therapy aims to correct these automatic negative thought patterns.

Your world outlook is most certainly a colored lens you view the world through and it's not the only one. It's a useless platitude to simply tell you this and that's why an intervention like CBT is better equipped to address it.

Also, medication can also help. Neural patterns are not very flexible, to put it simply. We are our habits, and that includes our thought habits. Medication can help create a more "chemically suited" environment to "carve out" a better neural network that is a bit more resilient against negative emotions and experiences. It's why therapy + medication in combination leads to better outcomes than either medicine or therapy alone. I'm sure a neuroscientist might find issues with that explanation, but it's the best way I can explain it to a layperson.

I totally agree. What is weird for me then is just how people react like I should be better by now after years of therapy including cbt. I think I probably should probably be better too, so I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong. Be patient when it comes to change doesn't seem to be working so I feel like I need to do something different, but I don't know what.
