I don't think there's anything I've would've liked to see that didn't come, but it was so short it felt underwhelming compared to their previous years. It was over so soon and was mostly just video that having a stage presentation felt like a waste honestly.

My view might of course be colored from the fact that it came on at 6am, but a few sites mistakenly said 4am, so I got up then already, because why would those sites be wrong? Microsoft only ended at like 12:30am I had to work from 7:30am and 9 hours ahead.

I'm not sure how to rate it. Nothing was missing, but nothing felt very unexpected or unique, barring Bethesdaland which was cool but brings up the point about a stage presentation being a waste again.

The conference was very great for, especailly considering what I usually tihnk of Microsoft. It was pretty much just game after game after game and I don't think anything got more attention than it deserved. In that regard, they did a very good job. B+ or A-.

Thing is, Microsoft is in a tough position regarding exclusives and to be honest, they were trying way too hard to push out the fact that they had some. It became cringy to hear "World Premiere" and "Exclusive" (actually also "4K, but that's for another talk) at some point. They were said constantly in otherwise silence and it really made them sound desperate and made it clear it's not all that common. World Premiere in particular feels desperate, no one else is making that big a deal out of having games first when they do. I don't really mind their exclusives are not big names we know, everything has got to start somewhere, but they're not as exclusive as they make them sound with all of them being on PC as well. It's not quite the same as when Nintendo released a game for two of their systems, although I don't really think Smash 4 or BotW were ever considering exclusives. If they released a game for both 360 and Xbox One (a few years too late for that to make sense but that's not the point) it'd feel more exclusive. PC is obviously not a gaming system, and while it does shrink the field a little that it's only Windows 10, a PC running that is still something a huge amount of people bought with money not coming from their gaming budget.

It's sort of a double edged sword, because it's nice everything comes out on PC, but when everything comes out on PC it sorta hurts the Xbox, which this was all about. It's minor, but enough for me to decide on B+ when I was split.

Also, this doesn't hurt the perfonmance, it's just personal, but Xbox One is the only console I don't own and this conference did not make me want to own one as a combination of the above things and that I'm simply not interested in too many of the games.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon don't sound very exciting, partly because the names are absolute ass, but I've always thought third versions were vast improvements, so hopefully it's somewhat of the same deal here.

Looked like Necrozma had fused with the cover legendaries.

The Switch port is a good idea, glad they added the arcade latecommers and something to represent Sun and Moon.

I love speculating. Here's a list of points for and against the likely things.

Points in favor of DPP remake:
- Enough time has passed for it to make sense.
- Gen IV you can't transfer Pokemon from on the same system. That includes Johto too, but it's still a fair point.
- The Munchlax event is pretty similar to the Torchic event last generation, where we had gen III remakes.
- Silvally has so much to do with Arceus, complete with an ability that somewhat resemples how you would pronounce Arceus, and there was nothing about Arceus in SM.
- Burnet's lab had a lot about cross-dimentional Pokemon, all native to Sinnoh. Just like the Ultra Beasts are cross-dimensional and not at all explored upon.
- The Pokedex has so few generation IV Pokemon and usually games within a generation supply each oother well in this regard.

Points against DP remakes:
- You can play them with their original cartridge on the console that the latest games play on.
- Remakes have in the past been when the games have been on two consoles prior to the current one, which is not yet the case unless they actually make something on the Switch already.

Points in favor of RB remakes:
- Pokemon GO was/is a huge success, there's a lot of money in the nostalgia now.
- They're the only ones you can't play on the 3DS not counting virtual console.
- In relation to that, it's been the longest since we've visisted them. FRLG are older than DP.
- The GBA is two generations of consoles ago, just in line with any other remake.
- SM is extremely packed with Kanto references. Red and Blue appaering is perhaps the biggest hint.
- Lillie goes to Kanto in SM, perhaps indicating some continuation of the story over there, although this might hint more to a game that takes place there, rather than a direct remake.
- The 20th movie that is coming this month (already had a sneak peak in France I believe) is a throwback to when Ash was in kanto.

Points against RB remakes:
- They've already had remakes before.
- They released them for virtual console. While they changed nothing, they did make it possible to connect them to the most recent generation.
- The extreme amount of Kanto references might've reached a point where it's a counterargument. This counts for XY too, that had Kanto starters and Snorlax on the road among other region features similar to Kanto. All the Alolan Pokemon are Kanto, except for the starters and guardians, all exclusive Z-moves are for Kanto Pokemon. Perhaps they did this instead of remaking them.
- Kanto is a very bland region compared to what everyone would expect of a new one. There are very few unique landscapes. Unless they made somthing similar to Sevii Islands (but hopefully a lot more interesting) we're taking a huge step back for today's standards in this regard. This point along with a few others would not be relevant if they made a new story that took place in Kanto as mentioned before. Sun and Moon take place many years later than RB, the region could look a lot different, although then it would not be the Kanto we know, which has both its ups and downs.

Points in favor of a follow-up to SM
- A lot cheaper to make.
- A lot of things in SM needs to be explored upon. Necrozma in particular, but not at all limited to that.
- The anime has barely begun on Alola yet. It would almost be a waste to move on already, unless we go back later (like Emerald).
- There's the "Look Upon the stars" tagline on some merchandise.

Points against a follow-up to SM:
- We didn't get one last generation and BW2 already broke the tradition somewhat.
- There's not really anything in Alola we haven't seen if they keep it as it is, unless we go across dimensions again.

In a time where anything from last generation gets remastered, bundling 3 PS1 games together and perhaps exposing new generations to a dead series is a rather nice thing imo.

My interest in this contest was basically non-existant. I'm a huge fan of contests normally, but I couldn't get the slightest bit excited, while just the idea of a character battle or a games contest does excite me. I made my bracket in a minute and never looked back at it. I picked 95 to the finals just to pick something I thought would be an upset. Didn't think about the rest at all.

OoT has been stalling LttP, LttP only gained 2 votes in the last update.

BotW is a big entrant and it probably took far more votes from OoT than LttP. Makes a difference for sure.

I believe we have 5 good matches here. Though some of them have a clear favorite, there is no match where the winner is obvious.

Whiskey Nick vs. MrSmartGuy

Although any potential rallying this round probably doesn’t go to the remaining previous winners, I feel like Nick should be the favorite to win this match. He’s not gonna stand out any less this round than the last where he blasted through on day 1 with ease.


WiggumFan267 vs. th3l3fty

Wigs is the favorite to win or at least a favorite to get to the top 2. He’s the favorite here is well, but if he were to lose this round, Lefty is one of the people he could lose to. Wigs is gonna win on points, but GP’s might change that.


Eddv vs. digi

Digi is probably a frontrunner for discord GP’s, but Eddv has an extremely dedicated voterbase, if you can call it that. He’s gonna get a lot of GP’s and they aren’t rivaled by anyone the same way as discord GP’s, while being a bigger amount, are more split. Eddv feels like the good pick here.


HanOfTheNekos vs. Shaduln

While Han is definitely no walkover, Shad should be the clear favorite here before GP’s. Han is probably gonna make a solid attempt at getting back from that, but Shad should be able to win it. Pretty much the equivalent of Steiner vs. Poka last year.


Steiner vs. VeryInsane

It is so extremely tempting to pick VI here that I’m simply gonna go ahead and do it. He’s coming in here in a fantastic underdog run with what is likely a massive GP support and Steiner is a perfect opponent in this round, given that he’s a previous winner. Steiner will most likely win without GP’s, but that’s not all – the beauty of this round.

So after the first day it turns out that Nick blasted through while Arti seems likely to be here the final day. For immunes, I don't see why lefty wouldn't simply get through. This seems like the best bet. Someone like Arti could also be immuned having very convincing performances in previous rounds. KCF is probably going out early too. It is possible he will the first day, but leaning the second. SHINE is probably gonna be high on both boots and immunes, but I'm thinking he stays for now. Lefty and Nick in particular are users likely to be there on the final days I think.

The difference in strength from the strongest to the weakest in this group is not too big. We're probably having confirmed exactly what it is today. Red probably beats RayDyn for third and MSG probably beats Bartz for first.

Cloud Group

The Raven 2 (ZeroSignal620) vs. KCF0107

KCF was very impressive last round and is the clear group favorite. Brohan vs. Paratroopa is probably the fight for second place. If the match happened last round, Paratroopa would be my favorite, being stronger in such a format, but Brohan seems stronger in a format like this. He's my favorite.

Well, digi has looked nothing but overly impressive so far, so don't see him losing here either. I suppose the other one could be interesting, but Raka certainly enters the match as a favorite, so I'm gonna go with him.
