Actually surprisingly good manga.

Finally got around to giving Brown Dust 2 a try after the recent debacle with them releasing a loli in a wedding dress. Refithea, if you want to look her up.

Somehow her banner was already removed and shes in the standard pool now, but her other dress banner is still up.

Did like three rerolls before eventually getting her.

(not actually the strongest but definitely on par with some of the top tiers, despite being an idol unit and not a hero unit)

Anyway, this song plays whenever you activate their skill, which lasts forever until they die (or get paralyzed). Oh, and if they die, they can be resummoned again (after 30 seconds) with twice the stats. And if they die again, they get another x2 stat boost. So yeah, pretty OP.

That said, no idea why I struggled on this map.

Besides the fact that the boss here full-heals all enemies in range until you bring her to 50% HP, in which case she spams AOE tornados a second that do like 2k damage per hit. Still, I shouldnt have struggled with my team.

Oh, but thats just the regular version of the map. The hard mode adds a second boss that spams exploding pots at you.

Finally got the damn mice.

Since Calwings is retiring and no one else wants to step up, I guess Ill make it.

NIKKE having a Kingdom Rush-inspired tower defense minigame for its 1.5 anniversary is the obvious reason for the topic title, but the other tower defense gachas are also going strong.

Millennium War Aigis is somehow still ranking first on a lot of days, long after its 10th anniversary celebration.

Monmusu TD has a player version now.

Arknights I hear the story got really, REALLY bonkers.

And that about covers it.

Me trying to roll for mice in FGO, or collab units in Mahjong Soul.

My NIKKE luck is ridiculous though. Got every unit except like three.

Its easy enough in stuff like Infamous where most of your evil stuff is relegated to blasting random faceless civilians or executing/lifestealing mooks.

Much harder to do in more character-driven works, though itd help (or hurt, in this instance?) if your two choices are represented by companions like the most goody-two-shoes law-abiding enforcer you can think of vs the most batshit insane Joker/Harley Quinn-esque chaotic villain you can think of. Then its less about your actions and more which personality is more tolerable or just which one is hotter.

If you've ever played Team Fortress 2, here's how I would describe the 9 classes.

Low Floor, Low Ceiling: Heavy, Pyro

Low Floor, High Ceiling: Soldier, Medic

High Floor, Low Ceiling: Spy

High Floor, High Ceiling: Scout, Sniper, Demoman

Engineer is pretty middle-ground for both.

Pyro airblasting is low ceiling?

Id say Medic and Engie are the lowest skill floors. Their higher skill ceilings are mostly for Ubersaw or Frontier Justice variants.

Huntsman Sniper is honestly pretty low skill floor too, as a Huntsman main myself.

I would hesitate to call Heavy low anything either, given how theyre prime Sniper/Spy fodder.

I dont think anyone disagrees about Scout or Demo being the hardest to master though.

In Overwatch terms.

Soldier 76, Reinhardt, and Mercy are probably the go-to or safe choices for DPS/tank/healer, as their roles and skills are straightforward, thus, low skill floor. They do still have a noticeable skill ceiling, what with both Soldier and Mercy being combat medic, or Rein needing to know when to barrier and when to charge, so none of them are just hold button to win.

But none of them are as complex as, say, Genji, Winston, or Ana, who all have much higher skill floors since they have harder-to-master skills for their roles, need to pay greater attention to cooldowns and understanding the battlefield, know when to push, when to ult, when to retreat, etc.

Also, wasn't that an entirely "fan" dubbed project? As in, a voice actor just bought the rights to dub it on her own for cheap because she was a huge fan of the show, as a passion project, and wasn't at all reflective of what a typical dubbing process looks like?

He made it sound like his changes were final and everyone had to say otherwise. So yes, he made himself (and the entire localization process) look like a joke, but he still acted like an authority figure at the time.

Not sure about the second part. I heard Discotek didnt put a lot of budget into the dubbing/localizing, but I hadnt heard about it being 100% fan-funded.

Long story short is a YouTuber named Jelloapocalypse posted a now-deleted blog post about how the show he worked on, the author, the JP voices, etc. were all garbage and he worked to improve them (in his words, his changes were the only things that made it good).

Basically threw his peers under the bus in the process and subsequently got blacklisted by the industry after that.

CE isnt nuanced or unbiased in this issue either.

I remember in a previous topic, in the span of two minutes, CE went of course a degenerate like YOU would care about the accuracy of a dogfucker anime to what do you mean you never watched the show, how do you know resting bitch face isnt an accurate translation then. I already forgot the name of the anime and had to look it up, but it was My Life as Inukai-sans Dog (almost put Pet instead of Dog, if that hammers in how much I otherwise forgot about this shows existence).

When it doesnt take two brain cells to know that it wasnt at all what was said, or that the localizer also claimed to be a fan of the show despite the premise. (so its okay for the localizers to be degenerate but not the audience?)

And when you bring up stuff like the Lovely Complex thing, theyre apparently just one-off incidents and not saying the quiet part out loud about their disdain for Japanese media.

I remember S2 dragged a bit since the whole split plotlines thing doesnt really work when the kids in the prison arent really compelling to follow and it takes forever for the others to get anything done. Like didnt they spend half an episode just looking for a cassette or something? And then the last episode culminating in ONE airplane assaulting the prison was just silly.

For the record, NIKKEs gacha system is comparable to Overwatch (1, not 2) where playing long enough will get you enough pity currency that you can redeem anyone down the line without paying. Most chars get added to the general pool after a month or so too.

For limited units, you only need to worry about collabs, summer, and Christmas. And Pilgrims, since they dont have a rateup but do get added to the general pool.

How long does it take to beat story in your estimation?

The actual campaign is a bit resource-locked, as you take a hefty damage penalty if your chars are low-leveled. It was pretty bad for the first few months and the first few events following launch.

Theyve eased up on the requirements since then, but I dont exactly know how lenient it is now.

Each chapter is roughly 2-3 hours on auto and theres roughly 25 chapters now?

Events are typically a shorter affair, lasting an hour or so.

Story is mostly good, theres a few lower points like the current cheerleader event thats basically made to sell Asuna/Karin v3 even though we already got Asuna/Karin v2 like half a year ago. At least we get a free cheerleader dog NIKKE, though you need to also roll her.

Daily grind is generally like 30 mins at most.

There arent really any series that treats the slaves like actual slaves. Not even Redo of Healer.

I do wonder how Shield Hero got as popular as it did in the mainstream though, given how prominent of a plot point it was. To the point that they tried to justify it as better for leveling.
