i had a fun time watching the show, although it was kind of frustrating how much more interesting the villains were than the heroes!

i looked up some plot stuff that didn't make sense and they seemed to all be contrivances that weren't in the comic. i can't blame them, since television viewers are not to be trusted

i do like what i see on the wikipedia summary of the comic plotlines, and hope the show skips all of the various filler plot threads advertised at the end of the final episode

yeah, he's a little inconsistent. they couldn't pick just one characterization, they needed him to be everything

i actually was thrown for a loop every time he went into "superhero" mode where the plot demanded it. it's almost like he was vaguely aware he was in a video game

Mgs is an amazing series and a work of art

But it regularly sacrifices logic, pacing and coherence for meta commentary, so if you care about things being traditionally good and making sense after the first game, you're out of luck

Mgs1 is a fantastic hybrid of James bond, die hard, and pac-man. It overall makes perfect sense, forgiving one scientific mistake or two

Mgs2 is just one big prank/meta commentary on the audience for wanting a sequel. Nothing makes sense, and It messed up the universe so badly that the next game had to be set 40 years in the past just to procrastinate resolving it all. Introducing someone to mgs with this title is juat wrong

Mgs3's survival mechanics were ill advised and naked snake's personality became a parody of a parody

Mgs4 was 100 years of cutscenes and fan appreciation

Mgsv has my favorite gameplay with a ton of options. It just has a ton of weird story decisions and premises that don't make sense

Supposedly kojima wanted to move on to other projects after mgs1, but it's success kept him making this one series for 15 plus years

That's a good question. I'm not especially attached to physical doodads... I'd be happy to get the apartment space back, to be honest

But there's some hobby stuff I've painted that would be a little hard to let go of. If the person was guaranteed to show up at a specific time and get it out of my apartment for me... I'd let it go for $200

The key thing is that i don't want to have to deal with packing/mailing

If i had to pack, mail, organize actual buyers, deal with flakes, etc... it'd have to be at least $900

People will always find ways to justify and paint their hobbies in the best possible light

But that's life. People spend money on things that make them happy.

Golf and skiing are wealthy people hobbies, full stop. It doesn't matter if some people can play on a budget. You're participating in a wealthy subculture if you golf

It doesn't matter if "it's not as expensive as owning a boat". being for wealthy people doesn't have to be something you get defensive about

No matter how reasonable golf is compared to going to the movies or whatever, it's still infinitely more expensive than playing soccer or basketball

Yeah, oddly enough i know a couple of people who like the yakuza series, but find the real time combat gameplay too difficult

When you put so much time into writing dialogue and random minigames, you don't want to filter out players who have dexterity issues or don't understand how to block

The series was always this unique hybrid of jrpg, gta, and shenmue that was leaning toward the jrpg angle, so it makes sense for them to finally collapse entirely into the genre they sprung from

I've played a metric crapton of games, but i think every big-ish game series has at least one off-platform or sub-par entry i haven't delved into. This is kind of crazy.

i guess excellent series that are really good tend to explode until there are games that aren't as great

To get above 2 or 3 i think i need to start throwing out entries i don't want to count, or maybe the devs have tacitly disavowed (Starcraft 1 had two official 3rd party expansions/games i could download that haven't been mentioned since 1999)

i can see arguments for/against, but honestly don't care enough to argue hard. i'll trust the experts, who cares

i don't know if i'd go so far as to call it prohibition, since menthol is just a slightly harmful additive/painkiller? so one could argue it's the same as banning rat poison in cigarettes (which is objectively a good thing). you can still buy rat-poison-less cigarettes

my social circle is all about non-menthol american spirits for some reasons that i don't store in my brain, so they won't be affected

while i've always known they were marketed towards/more popular among black communities, i think using that as justification for/against the ban registers on my bs detector.

we'll see if the FDA has legal standing for this. the wikipedia page has a weirdly convoluted supreme court history on the subject

i want the drug war to end, but if it's gonna end i think we will still need regulations on what additives are approved
