it depends on why you didn't like houses

it resolves a very early plot point that made characters be dumb, but the war is going to happen regardless. it's no golden route, so to speak. edelgard's still going to be the same person she is, same with the others

If you can't afford to pay for a vital component of what you're trying to do you either need to fundraise or take out a loan, or negotiate with a subcontractor directly for some alternative arrangement. If none of those options work, maybe your idea isn't marketable and doesn't deserve to be made.

There's no excuse for a business of any size to just cut out part of the process in creating a product. If you aren't willing to make an effort to pay someone for their work, why should anyone pay you for yours? Maybe if you couldn't afford to pay an artist for your game and use AI instead then maybe I'm too poor to buy your game and I'll pirate it.

big agree, smaller companies should contract smaller artists

the only area I see AI outsourcing as being ultimately ethical in is in like, homebrew D&D campaigns. you can tell it to brew up a random NPC's character sheet in like ten seconds and that's pretty badass

I will say I hate the way the term "roguelike" is used these days. There are ACTUAL roguelikes, like Nethack, Mystery Dungeon, and Crypt of the Necrodancer, and then there are games that have some gameplay systems shared with roguelikes that otherwise don't play anything like them that really should have a different name.

the term I've usually heard is "traditional roguelike" for things like caves of qud that are actually like rogue

three houses feels overambitious and engage feels underambitious

i have a hard time figuring out which i like more but it's probably 3H because edelgard <3

with the somniel pretty much everything was either useless minigame fluff (which imo is fine, someone out there likes it) or lasted for one battle; the monastery felt like all the weekly shit was towards building a stronger final army, so i felt more compelled to do stuff in 3H than engage

the monastery giving me stat boosters each week by itself makes the explore worth it, even if i spend the rest of my time training students i'll never use because this is a solo maddening non-ng+ run

I didn't like it I'm 3H and then Engage makes it worse. In Engage, they give stat bonuses, so you should probably do it, but it's so tedious.

you can outright ignore the base 95% of the time in engage and do just fine, you can't just ignore the base in 3H because it's half the game. when you're talking about stat bonuses, are you talking about meals or something? because you had to do a LOOOOT more meals in 3H. after getting a higher professor rank there's basically nothing to spend activity points on except meals

three houses is a very, very different kind of FE game. everyone can become anything, the weapon triangle basically doesn't matter, and there's tons of downtime between battles to tweak your army. for a lot of people, way too much time. the story starts out intriguing but completely loses steam by the halfway point.

engage feels like a return to form pre-fates, character designs are wacky and the story is boring. but DAMN the gameplay is fire. battle animations are cool too- characters' attack strings will actually upgrade (visually) within their own class as they level up

three hopes is a fun badass musou game, 10/10 i love shez. the story compounds on what you know from three houses pretty heavily even though you're starting from around the same point, though. the previous main character is your new main character's personal lu bu. it's amazing and it has a demo.

In both cases, and with every game that does this, the store page specifies the items are available in-game. Not just for MTX, but even with pre-order bonuses they have to do that.

the problem is, they could have been implemented as one-off tickets like in rise, so communication was still unclear. rise style tickets in a game with DD2's restrictions would be terrible

as someone who usually abuses multiplayer in souls games, Code Vein was a pretty fun take on the genre

IW got a lot of backlash early on for ng+ being gated behind a paywall (there were a lot of articles and angry discussion about it), it was just less of a perfect storm because the game ran fine and the locked content was all endgame shit. the consumables basically just broke your inventory forever because it gave so much too lol

Heck, infinite Wealth is actually significantly worse in that regard since it's blatantly pulling character classes, NG+ and the only post-game dungeon out to be sold separately.

those jobs were free with a preorder, so everyone playing day 1 wasn't complaining about them because they had them for free

To clarify, you could always reset your save on PC but I guess we're entering a level of either technological incompetence or uncharitable arguments (or both) where disabling cloud saves and using a file explorer is considered too high of a bar for most users.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to have a way to reset your progress ingame without referring to forums. A new game button is a pretty basic feature and shouldn't require workarounds.

Edit: Hell, this sort of goes back to a big criticism of DD1- no way to have multiple save files without workarounds. Sure you can go in and manually back up your files but you really should have just had 3~ save slots to begin with. It's obtuse design.

sc2's very much a game about making sure you're spending all your shit, yeah. if the things you are producing are useful and you're never above like 600 minerals, that's a sign you're doing very well

expand fast and keep on producing dudes and you can just F2 attack move in campaign, coop, and to an extent versus

it wasn't actually that bad, but i also binged it all at once

the MTX stuff is pretty damn bad but the performance issues are what's putting me off the most from trying the game

there's absolutely no way I could run this game at 30fps, let alone 60fps, if others with far more powerful systems are struggling

428 (detective), AI (detective), Meteor World Actor (detectives), Fullmetal Daemon Muramasa (pretends to be a cop but is way higher up), EVE: Burst Error (one protagonist's an ex-cop turned unofficial detective, other's a secret agent which is basically a supercop), and technically maybe Sharin no Kuni (more of a dedicated parole officer policing social taboos, and it's debatable if that's helping considering the government is villainous)

i would've voted tokimeki memorial from my personal perspective, as someone huge into visual novels and whatnot

stuff like rance or yu-no were way huger in shaping how things are currently, but american audiences are entirely unfamiliar with them lol. but tokimeki memorial is the foundation of an entire subgenre and we at least had some of them over here
