Nope. It was literally meant to support a family. Try again before busting out your dressed up "TEENAGERS GETTING SPENDING CASH" shit.

Where is your source for this?

the best part is i'm sure it'd be great

The only time "great" should be in the same sentence as "Brie Larson" is saying, "Brie Larson is definitely not great."

she dropped out of the individual competitions, now what?

I am not too upset, then. I still think she should have dropped out earlier because, like someone said, she was clearly not herself even in qualifiers. If she had dropped out earlier we might have been able to take the gold.

I would have much less of a problem with what she did if she was not still going to try to compete in the individual events. That makes it seem like she realized she screwed her team's chances with her first event and dropped out in order to feel like she was absolved of blame for the loss, even though we also lost to Russia in qualifiers.

I am not questioning her toughness. I am questioning her motive for dropping out. If anything, I believe her toughness proves that she did not really dropout for mental health reasons.

What do you think it should be?

It depends on where you live. You can live off of ~$25-30k a year in my area, and most areas in the US, and $15/hour works out to ~$30k a year. I am totally for a federal minimum wage increase but anything over $15 is ridiculous. If states with a high cost of living want to make the minimum wage higher that is fine, though those states should probably also question why their cost of living is so high compared to other states.

The problem here is that people seem to think minimum wage is for adults supporting a family. It isn't. Minimum wage is meant to be for entry-level adults with no dependents or for young students who are dependents. If you are trying to support two kids on minimum wage, as bad as I feel for the children, that is the result of your stupid decisions. Someone in this topic said it best,

I know a lot of poor people and they all waste money. Anyone else in the same boat?

Poor people are mostly poor because they make stupid decision after stupid decision. That is why I am okay with a one-time wealth redistribution. If we do that, things are going to be exactly the same within 5-10 years and people can finally stop complaining about "not having a chance."

People in this topic are actually implying that the minimum wage should work out to over $60k per year.

She withdrew because she knew they were going to lose, that is why she is saying she "hopes" to compete in the individual competition. It was a selfish and cowardly move.

And you have these facts how exactly? Seems to me most people got shafted.

Pretty much everywhere you look, the data shows more people did better financially or about the same financially than they did worse financially.

https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2021/03/PSDT_03.05.21_covid.financial.impact-1.png

Most of the biggest employers in the US; Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, Starbucks, Kroger, and McDonald's to name just a few in addition to most other major supermarkets and retailers; offered hazard pay and bonuses for workers during COVID.

The problem with this topic is that yall seem to be taking your anecdotal evidence as fact instead of actually looking at the numbers. You may have gotten "shafted," and that sucks and I feel for you, but most people did not.

Almost every company gave "essential" workers hazard pay and bonuses. There is a reason that 40-50% of people did better financially in 2020 than they did in 2019.

Empirical and anecdotal evidence say federal unemployment benefits are contributing to a labor shortage but Biden told me they are not, so the answer to TC's question is definitely not.

That is such a stupid excuse that I almost have to believe it. If they really wanted to try to absolve her of blame, they should have said her taser was broken or she had already used it and not refilled it yet.

Sorry. This is all on the cop.

guy is clearly wrong in trying to resist arrest and get into his car.

but HOW THE FUCK do you confuse your firearm for a taser and then FIRE it???

reckless, absolutely unqualified to be a cop if you cant even discern a taser from your firearm

I pretty much agree with this. The guy was an idiot for resisting arrest and trying to get back into his car to drive away but the cop using "I thought I pulled my taser" excuse is not a good look.
