As soon as it was announced on Tuesday that a live-action Legend of Zelda movie is in the works, fans started dream-casting the title role. At the top of many a list? Euphoria star Hunter Schafer. At the London premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Thursday night, Schafer confirmed shes seen the fan castings circulating on social media.

That would be so cool, Schafer said about playing Zelda in the live-action film. I love the game, personally. I played it as a kid and I still play it now. Who knows! That would be pretty cool.

Schafer had previously expressed interest in playing Princess Zelda, saying in an interview with ET: I mean yeah, that would be cool. I played that video game a bunch when I was a kid. Thats such a good game.

On clarifying his comments about how being attractive doesnt help as a comedian:

I would say its harder because of the fact that this conversation is even happening. But the fact that I said it and Im doing Mens Health magazine, which seemed like the perfect context to talk about the shape youre in, I would say it definitely doesnt help.

Because people dont like you. People assume your life is easier when you have all these good things going for you. Theres nothing funny about somebody living an easy life, or so you would assume. So thats why I would say its a little bit harder. You have to win people over more often.

Marvel is bracing for impact as The Marvels is shaping up to be one of the MCUs biggest box office bombs, really no matter what the quality of the film ends up being. Its the wrong film at the wrong time for the MCU, and early pre-sales have it tracking below DCs disastrous The Flash.

So, Marvel and Disney are now pulling out all the stops. And by that I mean releasing a final trailer for the film that is so transparently desperate it actually hurts to watch. And I say that not as some weird Brie Larson-hater but as someone who is genuinely looking forward to the film (more Iman Vellani as Kamala!).

The trailer sheds the lighthearted tone of the older spots and appears to be trying to make this a direct continuation of Avengers Endgame. It opens with multiple scenes of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, both of whom have both left the MCU at this point, flashing back to their final battle against Thanos, while reminding us that yes, Captain Marvel was also there.

But its not just awkward nostalgia bait, The Marvels is now content to spoil some of its own plot points and cameos in order to try to sell more tickets. Namely the trailer outright teases multiverse integration when that wasnt seen before. It also shows off a cameo from Tessa Thompsons Valkyrie which was not previously known. And to top it all off, we have The Avengers theme playing over the title card at the end. Embarassing.

All of this serves the narrative that this is going to go badly, and Marvel knows its going to go badly. It feels like the last stop on the train where the MCU has been so die-hard about integrating its movies and Disney Plus shows, with Captain Marvel 1, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion all serving as backstory for this.

America First Legal, led by former Donald Trump goon named Stephen Miller, has requested that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which investigates allegations of discrimination against employers and has the authority to file lawsuits, investigate NASCAR for illegal discrimination against White, male Americans.

It seems like a joke because NASCAR has one Black driver in its Cup Series in Bubba Wallace, and just one non-American, Mexican driver, Daniel Suarez, racing full-time in its Cup Series. It also has no women Cup drivers since Danica Patrick retired following the 2018 Daytona 500.

NASCAR isn't known for being a beacon of diversity among its drivers. It's been attempting to change that with a series of diversity initiatives designed to bring more drivers of color and also diversify its staff.

We can laugh at the blatant stupidity but the larger message Miller and his group are pushing is a frightening one. That message is that white people are under attack and need protection.

This, of course, isn't true. But people like Miller say it is and unfortunately Miller, extremist politicians and right-wing media push the same garbage to tens of millions of Americans. They've been doing this for years.

Former Fox host Tucker Carlson acted as a conduit for one of the ugliest conspiracy theories in existence: the "great replacement" theory. The idea behind it is that white Americans are being replaced by people of color for political gain. The reason right-wing extremists attack diversity, equity and inclusion programs is because they see them as another way white people are being oppressed. Which is laughable.

Over the past year Miller's group has accused over a dozen companies, including some of the biggest like McDonald's and Starbucks, of using their DEI initiatives to discriminate against white people. Another organization Miller has targeted is Major League Baseball. Bloomberg reports that the EEOC has yet to publicly respond to the groups inquiries.

With NASCAR, as he's doing with other entities, he's attacking its various diversity programs, as Bloomberg notes, including diversity driver development program, diversity pit crew development program, as well as the NASCAR diversity internship program." He claims it violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race and sex.

Miller's group accelerated its efforts after the Supreme Court essentially gutted race-conscious admissions decisions at colleges across the nation. He wants to spread this ugliness beyond that realm.

Please understand what Miller's group is doing here. He's attacking NASCAR for wanting to diversify itself. A company trying to look more like America is a wonderful mission. Instead, someone full of rot and bile wants to stall that kind of progress. Not sure what's scarier. The fact that Miller is doing this or that millions of people applaud him as he does.

Miller's group has also gone after Kellogg. That's right. Kellogg. Which makes cereal. Apparently, Coco Pops aren't white enough.
