I've noticed that countries/regions with the lowest birth rates tend to be ones that still have very traditional views towards men/women's roles (East Asia, Eastern/Southern Europe, the upper classes in Latin America), as opposed to higher rates in places like France and Scandinavia (although I think this might have started to change recently), who have less of those issues. They are still lower than replacement, but not like others. Even within the US/Canada, the areas with the highest birth rates are the Mountain/Prairie regions, where women have traditionally been considered more equal to men in their jobs/society. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! I think complicating things makes them more complex, not worthy of dismissal (well, for the most part.) On the flip side, has anyone seen "Tess?", which was Polanski's first film post-rape conviction. I know that he was planning on making it anyway, but it was certainly an interesting choice to do afterwards. I mean, look at the tag line on the poster. I've been thinking a lot recently about what happened to the GOP, and where the turning point was, and I think that this is it. If Hughes wins, the Republicans are the ones one that WWI gets blamed on, and get thrown out in 1920. With the Republicans on their toes, the conservatives in the party can't afford to steamroll the progressives/moderates like they did in reality.
