This is one of my lifelong beliefs from my childhood, I actually looked it up and I guess it's good for retaining moisture on dry skin, dermatologists agree that it's good on top of other creams in order to keep them sealed as well

That said I've had a (very) bad experience using it on chapped lips so maybe I'm just anecdotal and full of shit, I usually tell people with really bad chapped lips to stop using the vaseline like it's crack and stop touching them altogether, and that usually works for them, so maybe it's just an issue with people misusing something that has no immediate prescribed use

Just because it's legal, that won't stop your isp from giving you strikes, they can't tell if it's being downloaded to your hard drive or not.

Don't use it without a vpn, this is the fastest way to get your isp shutting off your service. I know this from experience. 3 strikes in one week.

Also note that a lot of torrent clients ignore vpns by default.

Ive actually considered before about starting a store to make and sell shirts and hats and flags with ridiculous right wing slogans on them. On the one hand Id be taking money from pretty awful people but on the other hand I would be promoting hate and thats whats really keeping me from doing that.

Yeah reading the comments of that article, there are "authors" that praise ChatGPT that it helped them "generate" entire novels. Just the fact that they call it generating novels instead of writing them. And over time as it gets better it will be harder and harder to detect, to the point that the entire fiction field is threatened.

Everyone thought that the only thing left for humans to do would be things only humans are good at, creativity. Ha. Creativity is the first thing to go.

The only thing that keeps me from hating AI outright is that it's just technology, and whether I hate it or not won't change anything because it's not stopping. It's not a political issue because no one can control it or even has any ideas on what to do. The amount of lazy creatively dead people on the internet is so vast and they have no dignity or self-awareness. Literally just stop, use your brain to think of something, and write it down. Keep doing that until you fill a book. If it's crap, then it's still better than something written by an AI. The entire point of creativity is expression. It exists for you to share your feelings and ideas. If a human didn't make it, then it can still be beautiful the same way a waterfall is beautiful, but waterfalls aren't art. If you want to change that, then congratulations, you've destroyed creativity itself.

There are talks of watermarking chatgpt outputs via encoding certain phrases in certain ways, so that will stop the college cheaters. It won't stop the scammers with the dedication to fork the code and remove the waterstamps.

There are videos on it, but the tl dr is that text produced from these mainstream engines will always be detectable as AI output. That will slow down the school cheaters, since kids won't find the obscure patched AI engines.

So Amazon books will likely use undetectable(ish) AI as there's a profit incentive to put those up.

I hope. I'm shy too, but I know how to jump into the fire when I need to. But I can't control how other people are, and if she's agoraphobic then I don't know if it'll ever go anywhere. Maybe she's content messaging forever, but I'm not. It's not like I have anything better to do, though.

But it's kind of crazy how compatible I feel like we are. We even both have soundclouds where we post our music, and she's pretty good too. We're both the creative type, we both need to be constantly making stuff.

As a software engineer I think unfortunately it will come for me first. I thought we would have some loyalty and keep it from destroying our own livelihood, but no, AI tools will soon be advanced enough to do any software without a human's help, using open-source projects as a training set.

Give it 5 years and we'll have fancy advanced GUI tools that can create entire codebases from text prompts.

Will it destroy our livelihoods, or empower us to do more than we ever could before? Hard to say right now.

I've been talking to a girl I met on Facebook dating for a while, but she seems kind of hesitant to meet irl, I guess she's just nervous, which is understandable because I'm an internet stranger.

But we clicked pretty much immediately and then fell off

She messaged me again out of nowhere on her birthday and seemed kind of depressed so I made her feel better. Her business is a lot of work and there's not much to go on with making money. She's into animal shelters and stuff and seems like a bit of a shut-in. I think I'll make her a website to help advertise her business with.

Healthcare in the US is just monstrous and we're moving towards literally everything becoming Amazon faster than we are to updating it to a single payer model. Prices are rising, cost of living is rising, corporate profits are skyrocketing and politicians are getting worse. I mean eventually something's gotta give.

When I was younger I was quieter and people constantly joked that I would shoot up the place, they would remind me how nice they were to me. It actually really bothered me.

Actually, if there were a shooter I'd be one of the people to die trying to tackle them, I would immediately run out and try to find them.

It's either on a note on your desk, on a plain text file, you forgot it, it's so simple you have it memorized or you have it long memorized and could forget it.

If you have it on 2FA, you could lose your phone. If you have it on fingerprint, you could burn your fingers. Something could always go wrong. If you have it on a note, you could lose it or someone could steal it.

That said a combination of a long password and 2FA is enough to keep anyone's account safe. People with 2FA don't get hacked. Turn it on now or be ashamed.

You are really quick to inform me that people who have stolen are bad people, which I find kind of strange, it's like you just rehashed something programmed by your daddy (or the prison industrial complex) because I pushed the right button.

Considering I've never stolen anything (from a store) in my life, I have no idea why anyone would steal anything serious, or what it would take to get that person to stop doing that. But I promise you that getting down on their level and calling them bad people, throwing away the key is just going to lead to them doing it again immediately. Which is probably by design.

I want those things but only because they're gone now.
