- Games: This was actually pretty easy. AA1 has the highest overall quality, with no bad cases. AA2 is definitely the lowest overall, but has the highest peak. AA3 has one bad case, one okay case, two great cases, and one fantastic case. Im going with AA3 > AA1 > AA2, though it should be noted that the metal detector in the courtroom and final defeat of von Karma is probably the most satisfying moment in the series.

The only reason I've seen to call Black and White linear is that the route through the game is a straight line, as opposed to RSE and DPP where you would go to different places on the map as they opened up. But all three had the same amount of actual freedom in progression, only being able to skip Brawly and Winona's gyms between the 3 of them. But they all had optional side areas to explore, which is something that's been missing in games recently.

Yeah lol. BW actually requires you to go back at times too - you need to go back to the desert resort to advance the story at least once, I think, and I want to say you go to Nacrene Museum as well?

But yeah BW is "linear" in the sense that it doesn't really have cities with multiple exits such as Saffron or Fuchsia, but it's really disingenuous to put it on SwSh's level in terms of actual gameplay linearity.

5 is an underrated game that I greatly enjoy. But goddamn the co-op thing frustrates me sometimes looking back. Either make Sheva a real part of the narrative or have her killed off and replaced with Jill halfway through

Yeah they really started making the trial days longer and longer as the series went on*, so even though 1-3/4 have the full 3 days, the segments are fairly short. 1-5 feels so long because it uses the full 3 days but has JFA/T+T-length court days, I think. And it's also, y'know, a huge pain a lot of the time.

*This feels like it was then taken to the extreme in Spirit of Justice, because that last trial day was endless... though I don't have the stats to prove it. But I'd be shocked if the last trial day in SoJ wasn't a series record for length.

Yeah, I absolutely love what they did to Young Edgeworth's sprite. The way they both redrew his face to make him look younger and gave him mannerisms that are more like von Karma's was brilliant, it comes across so well.

I like this and I also like how it was never stated. It was there enough to make the connection but it doesn't hit you in the face with it. The best part of that case imo.

For one I'm kind of interested in how well a mobile game can do, how far the Pokemon name will "carry" it, and I also love the game

I loved the team, particularly the top 4 on that list. All around lvl 60 when I got to Leon. About 70 now having done all the postgame stuff except for the Tower which I'll save for plane journeys and whatever else.

Encountered a 5 star Rhyperior raid today that was essentially unbeatable with what I had

BW was linear in terms of route to city to route, but each area was expansive and still had puzzles and things to find and hidden areas in Pinwheel Forest and such.

This, the comparison between them is nonsense imo

I'm replaying BW on and off and the breadth of stuff to do between cities and alternate paths and optional areas as well as the stuff ON the routes (weather institute, houses, construction cabins, food trucks, etc) leaves SwSh thoroughly in the dirt.

Some good stuff here, I'm into it. I kinda didn't mind having a third version - I'm an utter slave to the franchise and I love the "process" of playing through these games - but I definitely want to give this a shot
