ZURICH, Jan 9(Reuters) - The Swiss National Bank posted an annual loss of 132 billion Swiss francs ($143 billion) in 2022, it said on Monday, the biggest in its 115-year history as falling stock and fixed-income markets hit the value of its share and bond portfolio.
A strengthening Swiss franc also had a negative impact.
Monday's provisional figure, which marked a reverse from a 26 billion franc profit in 2021, was far bigger than the previous record loss of 23 billion francs chalked up in 2015. It is equivalent to slightly more than the annual GDP of Morocco.

The SNB will release detailed annual figures on March 6.
It made a loss of 131 billion francs from its foreign currency positions - the more than 800 billion francs in stocks and bonds it bought during a long campaign to weaken the Swiss franc.
Global stock markets weakened and bond prices fell last year as central banks around the world, including the SNB, hiked interest rates to combat inflation.
The strong Swiss franc - it rose above parity versus against the euro in July - led to exchange rate-related losses.

The 2022 loss meant the central bank will not make its usual payout to the Swiss central and regional governments, it said. Last year the SNB paid out 6 billion francs.
Still, the loss is unlikely to have an impact on SNB policy. It hiked interest rates three times in 2022 as Chairman Thomas Jordan moved to stem high Swiss inflation, analysts said.
"The SNB's colossal losses will not change its monetary policy at all," said Karsten Junius, an economist at J.Safra Sarasin. "The high reputation of the SNB helps that it doesn't have to change anything."

Most own just two properties usually single-family detached houses and are usually located in the same area, suggesting most are buying the second property for rental income not recreation.

Because the figures are from the period prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they may underestimate multiple homeowners current role in the market. More recent data from the Bank of Canada showed multiple-property owners have increased their share of home purchases in that time, while first-time buyers represented a smaller share of the market.

Breathable air is a right, on Earth.

Under the specific circumstances outlined in the OP, air is an entitlement. Going to Mars on a Musk/Bezos ship and placing your life in their hands is an entirely preventable scenario. If you don't want your air parceled out to you by oligarchs then don't place yourself in a situation where oligarchs are capable of dictating your air supply.

You may also find correlation in love of and places where there is literally nothing else to do but go to a game like Mississippi and other southern spheres. But correlation of course does not equal causation I am not sure there is a study about this just something I casually noticed.

Not only do I not want to pay a monthly fee just to watch a handful of shows or movies that I'm interested in, but more often than not those get taken down for no reason anyway. It's much better to just own physical and watch whenever I want.

Same reason why I hate the "games as service" trend. Wanna play that 5 year old game you just got? Too bad, the servers have been disabled. The game is no longer playable by any legitimate means.

Evangelion is a prime example of why this will always fail. Want fly me to the moon? Gotta own the actual 90s copies of it. It has been removed from streaming and even the recent release that has the original dub.

Similar some games will never again see the light of day beyond their original physical release.

Also, some things get erased as society deems the unfit for society. Sometimes for good but other times for ill.

I have always been very clear about that. If you horde property as investments you should pay property taxes on them.

I only ever complained about working class families owning one house and having to basically pay extra rent to the government for it meanwhile these rich horders get all sorts of tax breaks anyways
