the later fights are very doable, you just need good friends and time things right, like using evade when the NP turn hits (or Stun + switch afterwards, if you're using that uniform). you may use some command seals though.

you need a good archer to finish everything off, though Assassins like Jack or Mysterious Girl X are great alternatives too (Jack packs an Evade herself, MGX is built for that kind of opponent).

if it's just story, you mentioned you have Nursery Rhyme - she's one of the big characters to fight the Rooftop Assassin. if we're talking 3* units, Medea is also a really good one thanks to Rulebreaker's buff removals and her NP spam. add in a friend Waver or Tamano and it's a very doable fight. keeping him constantly unable to use his NP is ideal and Casters can wreck him. also keep in mind, Shiki can kill him as he's vulnerable to Death.

yeah, no kidding.
he's saved 18 multiple times and fixed her ankle, Frieza multiple times, Goku, Vegeta. i forget if he saved Gohan at some point or not. he's gotten multiple eliminations and involved himself in so many fights to help support his teammates. he came up with strategies against enemies nobody else figured out, like the guy who was too small to hit. he actually managed to take multiple hits from a god of destruction and the guy beyond him in ways nobody else on his team could do.

you'd expect Super to be sponsored by Japan's Park Services with how ridiculous he's been.

I had always thought of Balthier as a gun unit, but I see a lot of people using non-water swords. Did I miss something?

i assume these are DW builds, which is what i'm doing too.
one handed gun in one hand, of which we honestly do not have a lot of. i'm using Dragon's Roar, so 78 ATK. Sparky is technically great for him but it locks him to lightning element, which i don't want. that said guns do give him +50% ATK so he should have one.

the offhand weapon of choice from there varies a bit. right now i've got Genji Blade + Katana Mastery but once i get Brotherhood i'll swap it to that and DKS. there's no other water weapon worth a damn he can equip apart from Camille's TMR which gives DW to swords. i guess there could be builds focusing on that (water sword + sword + DKS) instead of a DW build with a gun but that doesn't seem like it'd outdo the basic gun + katana combo that most people should be able to pull off.

need to work on mine a bit but i should be able to get mine decked out really nicely soon for this (putting Brotherhood at the top of my TMR list, already have DKS). 800-900 ATK, water weapon, 100% fire res should have him perform as an optimal unit for LDG.

the online play does seem to have some input lag on some commands, you can see the difference very clearly between training and a match.

400k Lancer + 1 million Altera - okay that was hard.

i had Mash in my starting team, Archer coming in for support with an NP boost. don't have Tesla at a high enough level yet, otherwise he'd have been great there.

still managed to do it without any command seals used, so i'm set for tomorrow just in case.

so they showed an accessory that presumably Zarg would be able to equip and get the ability of:

+35 DEF +10% HP
ability:
+20% Chance to be targeted, +30% LB Fill Rate

...so he'll be a provoke tank who'll easily hit 8k HP without trying, has an 18 crystal LB that's a 30% damage reduction for 2 turns and a +30% fill rate, counters magic or physical damage 50% of the time, and has a native +20% evade to both physical and magic. oh, and he's guaranteed to survive a hit if he's got more than 10% of his HP the first time.

Olive has consistently, persistently, stayed relevant in the meta through all the changes we've had. she keeps being just shy of being in the top tier conversation but if her enhancements to DH resemble Demon Rain's (50% DH -> 150% TDH), she's gonna shoot to the top quick. Garland would be less so (50% DH -> 125% DH) but that'd still be enough to hit the cap with ease. that said she's coming in with a native 75% DH so i'm not sure what they'll do to that. since Sparky's still a one handed weapon, ideally a bonus that'd let her have some sort of variance to those too.

and i of course look forward to an easier time to spam the fuck out of her LB.

indeed, they do stack. main difference is 2 handed weapons. TDH loves them, DH doesn't work on them. so for units like Olive, TDH does bring her back into the meta a bit. before we got TDH she maxed at 175% (Sparky's 50%, natural DH is 75%, Bartz TMR is 50%). with TDH she shoots up hard and is close to the 300% cap. Garland's a good choice for the same reason - enhanced Garland is a native 125% DH, the same as Olive with Sparky.

both are probably the only two major examples with a very good build with it though. for most others they'll want two handed weapons as they've a variance of 1.0-1.6 damage, so on average you're doing 1.3x the numbers you see. it's why Fixed Dice builds fit with it, that raises the variance to 150-650% on top of that, so you're effectively doing 3-4x "normal" damage on average.

enhanced Demon Rain has native 150% TDH. with one of the TDH TMRs, that's bumped to 250%. standard DH would hit the 300% damage cap, though you'd miss out on the benefits fixed dice gives. though if you lack Setzer, okay.

bear in mind, that may make him lose some tankiness depending how you build him. he's a pretty ridiculous counter tank with it but if you want constant damage dealing, Cloud would prob be better. he's good! and fanboyism may have you keep him in your team. but if you wanna use his TMR elsewhere, there's a number of people out there. basically:

if it's a character that attacks + imperials -> another attack (Fryevia, Aileen, Orlandeau)? DW build generally wins.
if it's a character using a separate imperial? TDH is on par, TDH with FD is superior.

build what you want accordingly.
personally i'm also looking at the magic DH game that just opened with this event.

and ganon's right, Garland is legit impressive with it. dude can hit 1200+ attack and hit like a goddamn truck.

amusingly he's not the best at his own TMR. Tidus, Demon Rain, probably even Randi are better with it. but Tidus is the standout.

either way, once you get a source of TDH you may want to look at one of your Setzer as Fixed Dice is the main combo with it that does obscene damage - easily outdoing DW on some.

aka, the best TMR of the bunch.

edit:
it's a +50% equipment MAG (and a 10% SPR) if you wield only one weapon.
so if your equipment gives a ton of magic - all of it, hat, robe, accessories - it's getting a boost.

this will be the way to go beyond the 300% cap for mages. it's also a way to save DW and a second rod for another unit.

alright, that last 40 AP quest is done. even with 300% boosts on two LV80+ units that assassin is pretty tough and cost a command seal in the two times i did it. granted, i still stuck with Sabers so maybe if i had switched out for a strong Caster it would've been easier.

fortunately Scadhath and Jeanne ones are super easy to grind. Tesla... that's different. i should try him with Cu and/or a friend Scadhath. with those 50% party boost equipped he'll be even more annoying to kill.

what should i be looking at, grinding-wise, if i want to clear this saber wars completely? right now i'm around 500k.

the HP being so huge is only a big deal at the start.
once you got yourself 5 Blooms and combine them, you're fielding 200% damage on your main damage dealer and everything fucking melts. if that's not enough you'll also get a CE that's +50% ATK to the entire party and it works from the back. that's a random drop chance and something you're guaranteed to get from rewards.

the 40 AP quest with Ruler becomes easy farming with the first, especially with a Berserker or two. my LV 70 Kintoki with 250% OHKO Jeanne with his NP. i run it with a friend Berserker who's also boosted with it and the two of 'em can one round the first two.

Scadhath with a Saber-strong team is also super easy with that same equip. i don't have Okita but Altera runs through it well too, the only challenge is the 200K HP Rider in the 2nd wave. but i should probably level her up to 80 so i can hit her last ascension.

granblue's 10-100 free rolls every day is honest to god the most friendly system i've ever seen in a gacha game. yeah it's a new year's promotion but holy shit, they just fucking give you a free 10 roll every day minimum.

and then along the way as that happened they doubled the SSR - 5* - rate from 3% to 6% too.
so a 6% rate, with free pulls, free tickets thrown at you, and free extra in-game currency to allow for 3-4 normal 10-rolls.
