I mentioned trail of tears in my post. What I meant by history, I didn't mean war crimes committed against them. I meant actual history that explores notable figures, pre-colonial maps and tribes, political structures, economies, notable events and transitions of power. I know there may not be much because it wasn't documented, but universities have a whole 4 year major on Native American studies. There's definitely enough to establish their cultural identity over a 4-5 week unit in an American History course

I looked up how many died from disease. It states that 90% of Native Americans died from foreign pathogens. I can definitely see history books spin that away from genocide in the sense that wasn't the colonial's intent. As a random force of nature it just so happened to significantly convenience them (eh actually might not be. They would have had another 20 million people to potentially enslave).

Not at all implying that it wasn't genocide considering they murdered 2 million of them.

doesn't make sense. They teach kids their country is built on slavery. Not saying it's better or worse than genocide but it has a similar impact of highlighting the brutality on which this country was founded.

anyone else find it disrespectful that schools teach close to nothing about native american history? American history books usually spoke of them as combatants. The Trail of Tears was taught but that does not richly explore native american identities

Pretty brutal wars exclusively among Europeans. It was surprisingly very recent, 1991-2001. I'm surprised I was never taught this in history classes, and never hearing about it until randomly coming across it while looking at ancient civilization architecture.

I know we're not taught a lot of things like some of the absolutely brutal and disturbing shit that went down in Africa with the Rwandan Genocide during that decade, but something about this being exclusive to Europe and so recent is pretty interesting.

When it comes to immersion and exploration, I'd say WRPGs have JRPGs beat.

The aesthetic and stories are a bit different as well. WRPGs often draw from established and mature genres like fantasy or sci-fi, and like to stay in that comfortable space. JRPGs on the other hand do draw from established genres like any work, but they really delve into the surreal and fantastical. I'd say JRPGs are not as dark and gritty as WRPGs. Just depends on what people like

i like japanese RPGs because the boss fights are very well done. Building up to a boss fight is my favorite part of japanese RPGs. In addition, the combat often has significantly more depth. Oblivion, skyrim, witcher 3, etc. all have simplistic combat and general things like movement feel stiff
