With what? The Soviets had no amphibious assault doctrine, and what little equipment they had was on loan from the Americans. When they tried an amphibious landing at Shumshu in the Kurils, they took huge casualties and lost a third of their landing ships.

One of the main things that Martin Luther objected to was indulgences, in which you would donate money to the Catholic Church and they would then declare your sins forgiven by God.

To be clear, Luther's objection was a theological one. He wasn't really all that concerned about the financial abuses of the ones who were selling indulgences, he just cared that the indulgences, and specifically the indulgences for the dead, were counter to his doctrine of sola fide.
