The ex-wife of a former violin maker has been sentenced by a court to two years in prison for breaking into his house and destroying his 54 violins and 70 bows.

Qin Yue, a 35-year-old Chinese national, broke into her then-estranged husband's home in Nagoya in 2014 and destroyed his violins and bows which were worth around 15.6 million yen, according to the Nagoya District Court ruling.

In handing down the ruling, Presiding Judge Satoko Shotokuji said Qin had admitted to scribbling on the wall and described the action of destroying the violins as one committed by someone with a strong hatred.

The couple, whose divorce was finalized in 2016, were in the middle of divorce proceedings when the incident took place.

Qin had denied the allegation, saying she did not break all the violins and bows, but the district court dismissed her claim.

Prosecutors had sought a three-year prison term.

A search operation at the guest house, which has since been sealed, reportedly led police to discover empty liquor bottles, used condoms, and empty sachets of viagra tablets. Police have also seized footage from the CCTV cameras installed at the gate.

The victims husband said his wife claimed there were other women in other rooms of the guest house. Other girls were also brought there and used like this, he added.

According to police, Sunny had taken the guest house on rent and the property had become functional some months ago.

Panchkula deputy commissioner of police Rajender Meena said there were standing orders to personnel to routinely check guest houses in the Morni Hills area.

These guest houses need to be registered and maintain a register of who uses them, he said, adding that action will be initiated against anyone, including police personnel, found to be negligent on this account.

A 22-year-old married woman from Chandigarh was allegedly raped by 40-50 men as she was held captive at a guest house in a village near Haryanas Morni Hills, a tourist spot, for four days. According to the woman, she was administered sedatives throughout to keep her semi-conscious.

She was allegedly also called a prostitute by the police personnel at the womens station she and her husband first approached in Panchkula.

Two people involved in running the guest house have been arrested since a case was filed Thursday night in Chandigarh, while police continue their investigation into claims that there were other women on the premises who were meted out the same treatment. The duo arrested has been identified as Sunny, who runs the Lovely Guest House in village Kaimbwala on rented premises, and Avtar, a staffer.

The victim told police that Sunny, who was known to her husband, had promised her a job as a maid at the guest house for Rs 12,000 a month. But when she went with him to start work on 15 July, she added, she was locked up in a room and repeatedly raped by 10-12 men each day, including Sunny, Avtar and other staffers at the property.

The couple claims that she was finally let off on the night of 18 July after the womans husband, unable to get through to her over the past three days, called up Sunny and threatened to approach police.

Her ordeal, however, did not end there. When the couple went to lodge a complaint at the special police station for women in Panchkula Thursday, no action was taken and she was advised to approach Chandigarh police. A case was registered after they approached police in Chandigarh that night.

The Panchkula commissioner of police, inspector general (IG) Charu Bali, said the woman assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the station in question had been suspended. She added that the personnel in charge of the police posts at Ramgarh and Morni were suspended as well, for failing to keep a check on local guest houses despite directives to this effect.

According to him, when subsequent efforts to contact her failed, he started calling up Sunny.

Sunny kept telling me that he was at Ambala. At times he did not pick up the phone. At one point he said I might not be able to see my wife ever, he said. Finally, when I threatened him on 18 July that Im going to police, he agreed to let my wife go. He put her on a bus and called me to pick her up at Panchkula, the husband added.

All this while, his wife was living a nightmare. The victim told her husband and police that soon after she arrived at the guest house, which seemed to be used only for shady activities, she was locked in a room.

When he got word from Sunny that he had let her go, the husband dialed 100 but was allegedly told that nothing could be done till the woman reached Panchkula.

A German worker was allegedly caught on camera poisoning a colleagues lunch prompting authorities to investigate the deaths of 21 other employees.

Police have arrested a 56-year-old man on suspicion of trying to kill his colleague at ARI Armaturen, which makes industrial components such as valves, in the town of Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock.

More than 20 employees have died before retirement since the turn of the millennium, many of them from heart attacks which could potentially have been brought on by heavy metal poisoning.

The suspect had been seen on a security camera opening a colleagues lunchbox and putting a substance on the sandwich inside, police said in a statement. The colleague had noticed something smeared on his lunch and notified his managers, who in turn called police.

Video footage at the company in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia showed the suspect spreading a powdery substance on the food.

A small bottle of a similar substance was found in the suspects bag when he was arrested.

Tests by the regional criminal office indicated the substance on the bread was toxic lead acetate, a highly toxic and nearly tasteless substance, and there was enough of it to cause severe organ damage, authorities said.

Fire brigade experts found mercury, lead and cadmium in the suspects apartment in Bielefeld.

Police said the man had long tried to produce toxic substances, including heavy metal compounds using substances in his home.

Authorities broadened the investigation after other cases of illness at the company in recent years emerged. Two employees are in a coma and another man is on dialysis.

Officials are also now re-examining all deaths connected to the metal fittings company since 2000 in particular, 21 former employees who died before retirement.

There were a strikingly high number of heart attacks and cancers among the death cases in the company, police said.

Experts say heavy metal poisoning could have been the cause of the illnesses that led to the deaths.

The suspects motive was not clear because he refused to answer questions, officers said.

They plan to question family members and doctors who treated the employees affected, as well as reviewing medical records. A 15-member murder team is considering exhuming the bodies as part of the probe, Deutsche Welle reported.

Japanese authorities arrested a man Saturday after another person died when he allegedly shot compressed air into their rectum as a prank.

Yoshiyuki Yoshida, 34, was arrested for the accidental killing of Akio Ishimaru, 46, according to Ibaraki Prefecture Ryugasaki police.

The incident took place at an Ibaraki Tsukuba City manufacturing plant on July 13, according to the Asia Times. The two were apparently fooling around on their break when Yoshida took the air compressor and injected a blast of air in between Ishimarus buttocks, the news site reported.

Ishimaur began to feel ill minutes after the prank and was taken to the hospital where he later died. Yoshida reportedly admitted to committing the crime.

It was a tragic accident but not the first of its kind, police said in a statement. The air compressor was pushed up against the anus, over clothing, not directly into the cavity, and the release of the air into the body probably damaged the lungs, causing death. We are waiting for the results of an autopsy, which is still being scheduled.

An incident of this nature isnt exactly unheard of in Japan.

Two men working at a waste disposal factory accidentally killed their co-worker after poking him in the buttocks with an air compressor in December 2017, the Asia Times reported. Both were reportedly arrested on assault charges.

A Kyoto student died on Jan. 1 after being poked in the rear with an air-duster blower.

Japans Self-Defense Forces have also been a culprit of the prank. Air compressor-inflicted injuries have sent several to the hospital with serious wounds.
