While I was driving home tonight someone shot off a firework and it went off right above my car. Many people who use personal fireworks are just assholes. BTW, this same asshole in my neighborhood stockpiles the things and sets them off at seemingly random times all year long. Not just holidays, not even just weekends. He'll fire the things off on weekdays with no regard to people who have to get up the next morning. I hope he burns his own house down.

I'm told that's what happened to a certain young gentleman who had behaved inappropriately towards my oldest niece. No sympathy for him or his family.

I was going through some of the game sales, and I caught sight of a couple of games that I truly did not enjoy. I had an internal gut reaction to them, as though the experience had caused me harm at some point. That's obviously an overreaction, but I was wondering if it happened to any of you.

Thursday is the worst day. You've been working for three days, you have to get through Thursday, and you still have Friday ahead of you so it's not like you can sleep in. (Well, this week I can, I get Friday off because New Year's is Saturday, but most of the time.)

No. I wanted to, sort of, but I slept late and missed it.

I finally thought to schedule my COVID booster shot today, and come to find out that there aren't any openings through my provider (regional hospital system) until late January. For my part, I can't schedule anything that far in advance because of a mix of unrelated health concerns and our HR portal's limitations. I guess people are scared of this new variety.

It's so hard to go back to the 3DS, even though I kind of want to play some of those games.

I actually found Dracula boring beyond the coffin blood shower.

The only part I liked was, "I'm eating chicken and drinking wine!" It was just ridiculous enough to be funny.

At least a couple of times. One was for the RiffTrax riff of Hobgoblins, another was for Rob's Gone Wrong (or whatever it was called), and another was for The Adams Family 2 (my niece wanted to see it).

Subnautica ran out of steam for me lategame but it holds its magic for a long time before then (haven't played Sub Zero yet, don't know if that's a better one to play or not).

Not really. It's a smaller map (I'm told, I didn't play the two back-to-back), and it's more talky than the first game. I couldn't finish either game because I couldn't figure out which crevasse I needed to dive into to continue progression.

Im closing my Facebook account tonight (I want the people I spoke to to know Im leaving and Im leaving a message up for a day). Im just wondering about the rest of you.

The ladies generally didn't go for me and got upset when I asked them out. There was one who was interested but who I wasn't interested in and a couple of others I probably missed out on dating, but other than that I can't even get anyone to go for a coffee date, let alone marry.

It was unconventional and likely unappetizing, but far from "gross and horrible".

IIRC there's a trick to it, like you have to run the bandage significantly further than it looks like. Or maybe you were forgetting to sterilize the area first. idk it's been years but I know lots of people found it tricky

There was another game on the DS that was even worse about it. You were a cop assigned to internal affairs, and you needed to lift a fingerprint off of a gun, but the print was wrapped around the grip at an odd angle and I could never get the print off the gun.

Also worth pointing out that you might get in sooner than the site tells you. During my attempt (using mobile), it said it would be over an hour. I checked sixteen minutes later and got in.

No, the email tells you whether or not you can get in line. You do need to go to the website at a specified time. You can do it on a cell phone like I did, if needed.

PS Direct. They sent me an invitation from the last round of sign-ups, and I got lucky.

I just got one. It doesn't want to connect to my WiFi (console is close to the router and there's nowhere else to put either of them), so I'm going to have to buy an ethernet cable.

Im a disappointment to everyone, not just you.

I have two nieces and two nephews with names on those lists, right down to the spelling.

Im waiting for UPS to deliver a couple of packages that require signatures. The app says that the truck with the packages left just before 8 am, and helpfully informs me that it should arrive before 7 pm. Im not well pleased that I have to sit by my apartment buildings front door and wait so that I can catch a delivery driver whod otherwise leave a slip stating that theyll leave another slip tomorrow when they miss me again.

Jeopardy is doing a special tournament right now, but for those unaware the main champion (when the normal show returns) is a trans-woman named Amy. Shes the first transgendered person to make the Tournament of Champions (shes won enough games), and shes damn good.

I dont know if any of you could use a hero like Amy to root for, but she should be returning starting week after next.

I have it subsidized through work (I pay like $60 every 2 weeks) but the plan isn't great. it would have been like an extra $200 every 2 weeks to add my wife to the plan and it worked out better just getting a private plan for her as she got better coverage than the plan I get at work.

That sounds like a sweet deal. I'm paying $87 every 2 weeks, I have a high deductible, and if I had a spouse or kids the premium would go much higher. Better still, our premiums are going to skyrocket next year. I was pretty much forced to downgrade so I can pay the same amount for an even higher deductible at the same rate I've been paying (which would have been higher except that I get a discounted rate for getting the COVID shot).

I'm sorry for your loss.
