Eh. I mean he still had a choice.

He could have walked away and let Asgard become under Hela's complete control. Doesn't make for a good story but it hardly seemed deterministic.

Cap is the fucking best, which is funny because on paper he should be the most boring.

Chris Evans made him surprisingly endearing from the outset, but for me it wasn't until Winter Soldier - in which he affected both an all-knowing smirk and a Batman-esque sense of sarcasm - that he became my favorite Avenger.

At first I really disliked the cap, mainly because I find his helmet silly (in the comics and the movie too) and he was too one dimensional (U-S-A! I can do push ups! U-S-A-!), but Evans made the character really endearing like you said, and the movie character developed leadership moments and and approachability and depth. He is one of my faves now.

He basically started out that way. You weren't the first one to complain about it so they've done things over time to give him more depth.

Similar deal with Superman.

Blade Runner is a cult classic. The movie bombed hardcore when it came out. People mostly talking about it now because of the remake, which also sold miserably.

On the latter point, no it didn't lol. And that's a different topic from whether it is famous or not.

The movie literally barely made back it's budget and made less gross worldwide in 2017 than his 90s action flicks (Air Force One / The Fugitive)

I saw 150 million budget, 250 million gross. Anyway, you're making arguments that it is financially successful, when previously you were talking about fame.

I was strictly speaking about the popularity of his non Lucasfilm movies. Financial success is generally a good indicator of that.

I'm merely contending here that blade runner is not every remotely close to his most popular movie. It's fresh in people's heads because of the sequel but even the significantly more successful sequel still didn't remotely as successful as his 90s movies.

And he's only a supporting actor in the sequel anyway. I wouldn't consider it fair to say that TFA is his most popular movie because it's not really his movie.

The Fugitive.

Blade Runner lol. I'd honestly say Air Force One doesn't even break the top five. Even those Jack Ryan movies are more famous.

Air Force One was a massive success.

Although I forgot about the fugitive that was also extremely successful.

He was in other movies but they all flopped.

Also Harrison Ford is the only one who made it out of that movie with an acting career and it wasn't a very big one if you discount Indiana Jones since that's also a George Lucas thing.

His most famous movie outside of Lucasfilm is probably Air Force One.

It takes roughly the entire duration of Snake eater to climb the ladder. Let's call it 5 minutes. You can go a little slower for a leisurely pace.

That's not difficult even for people who don't exercise. You'll be tired at the end but you wouldn't be in danger of falling.

You should watch it cause it's good, not because it's intrinsically connected to IW

He heavily implies that they were in the correct timeline at the time of his death.

Maybe things deviated but I doubt it. Thanos says "you never used your strongest weapon"

Is that really accurate? What if he was, in fact using it, just not in the fight that happened in the present?

no need for civil War

Umm...no. It's pretty much required.

The divide between Cap and Stark over Bucky is huge and why Caps entrance in Infinity War is significant. And the introduction to Black Panther and Spiderman are in that film as well.

You get exposition for it earlier in the movie. No need to watch it and none of the plot points in it like Tony's Parents show up again.

What's with the recent trend of trying to label every single dictator and despot in history as a product of leftist politics?

About as recent as the trend to label them all Conservative.

I frequently see people like Mussolini or Hitler called fascist or right-wing, but I don't think I've ever seen them labelled as "conservative".

And if you're equating all conservatism with fascism, that's just wrong.
