I was 14 when the first Matrix film came out. I love the series, and I'm one of the probably few people who has actively watched M3 more than a dozen times (*cough*37*cough*). I was never much of a Terminator fan. First off, too scary - for me anyway. Second, I never really found them interesting (I did see both T1 and T2). I prefer TSCC.

Not exactly. I do feel like I'm not very attached to being a guy and would probably be just as happy (or just as miserable lately) as a girl but at the same time, I don't feel wrong as a guy or like I need to change or anything. If the tech was free and perfect so you could just switch overnight and be completely indistinguishable I'd definitely try out being a girl for a while.

Sounds a bit like me. I'm non-binary and genderqueer - I often feel a mixture of genders or that I don't fit into any of the boxes. Some days I dress to look typically feminine, others I dress typically masculine, much of the time I just mix it up. I'd be happier if I could wear a binder at least some of the time, but it isn't really an option - G cups and a deformed ribcage (Marfanoid habitus - when I'm lying on my back my ribs look like a wave) kinda make it not very feasible.

Mostly staying home and making sure to use plenty of alcohol hand cleanser when I can't, but I can't keep my caregivers from visiting, and they're the most likely route of transmission, as it were. I've caught flu and similar things that way before, from other clients via caregivers, even though they use gloves when they work. I'm trying to be cautious because I'm in one of the more at-risk groups with already having multiple chronic illnesses and being asthmatic, but I'm not panicking about it. Just being careful - and not ordering anything from online sellers in China, until it's cleared up. (I'm not the kind of dope who would avoid a Chinese restaurant in another country because of the coronavirus, I went to my favourite local one for my birthday 3 weeks ago, but like I said before, I'm being careful.)

Nothing wrong with being picky about who you live with. The "be gone 8 hours a day" part is a little weird. But for $500 a month rent that includes utilities, you'd probably get a lot of skeevy applicants so I can understand the checklist of parameters. And getting along with my dog would be a requirement for me too.

Well, exactly. I wouldn't want to be sharing space with someone who wasn't good to my pet(s), even if they weren't a huge fan of whatever kind of pets they were. My dog is the sweetest-natured girl alive, and she's a senior doggo. I don't see any reason she should be made unhappy in what's her home too, you know? I'd assume more or less the same applies to this woman's dog.

For the rest, some people are just that introverted. Nothing wrong with wanting someone who's effectively, as she describes, an "absentee roommate".

Currently living with my mother. I pay a "rent" of $500 per month and take care of house maintenance.

I'd admit I do find it bothersome that some feel one must move out just to move out. I can accept there are many of reasons to justify moving out and renting an apartment. But to move out just to prove one is capable of wasting money on an apartment seems just that, wasteful. Now moving out to a condo or house is a separate matter. I kinda see it as an all-or-nothing thing despite the cost of housing. At least a condo or house can be a worthwhile investment if one can afford it. An apartment is just a waste of money.

If you have family and you get on with them, that's cool. My parents are both dead (mum when I was a teen, dad just a few months back), & my father had NPD & was an abusive alcoholic, so living with him was a nightmare no matter how many other family members shared with us. He used to deliberately blast music at six in the morning to wake up everybody who was still sleeping, even when we had no need to be up yet, and he knew only too well that being woken by loud sounds gave me migraines back then. Not all of us can endure living together.

Sociological research for decades has found again and again that it is nearly impossible to pull oneself out of poverty unless practically everything else - race, gender, sexuality, education, health, family background etc - in your life was good already. If, for example, you're chronically ill, or you have no family support in the background, or you had something get in the way of your graduating high school, you've pretty much no chance.

I saw a frozen dinner in the fridge - the same one(brand and type) I had last week, and I felt like I forgot about it. Once in a blue moon i'll go out to eat and leave whatever I brought in there, which one day last week I got burger king instead of eating whatever I brought.

He takes his lunch break and comes out a minute later from the back room asking who ate his lunch. I confessed immediately. I was 100% certain it was mine I left in there, but it was actually his.

So, I apologized profusely and felt like an ass. To make up for it I bought him a new frozen dinner and a big bag of lays potato chips that he always eats, right after our shift was over. I will bring these items with me tomorrow. I know what I did was dumb. He seemed annoyed but not mad, though I don't know. I feel like buying him a replacement meal and a bag of chips(which I did not eat) oughtta smooth things over. if not oh well, I did my best to make up for it.

Should be all right. It was a pretty lousy thing to do, but he's probably mostly annoyed that he basically paid for *your* lunch & didn't get what he might've been looking forward to having. Also, if he didn't have time to grab anything else to eat instead, he might have been a bit hangry.

I think you'll be OK with what you're planning - you're making up for the financial loss & being courteous at the same time. That's a good move.

Unless it's in the snow zone, where that's the monthly heating bill. Still not bad, $700 rent and utilities.

I'm in the UK, and in social housing (in Manchester) to boot, so it's below market rate, but my monthly rent figure works out about 440 for my 2br apartment, which was why I said "most". Heating is all electric, & my electricity & water bills work out about 130/month on top of that, plus 45 for the phone line for my ADSL & my Internet package (with unlimited bandwidth but no phone package for the landline as I don't use it except to have the net & my community alarm plugged into it).

I can see why you'd think it was pretty good. It's a lot if you can't work, though (I'm severely disabled, a wheelchair user, & don't know if I'll be conscious for more than an hour from one day to the next).

Becuase I totally bought all of those games on Day 1 each for full price. A lot of them I waited for Buy 2 Get 1 Free sales and stuff. The only ones on that list I actually bought on Day 1 were Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 6, Hitman Absolution, Onimusha Remastered, The Last of Us Remastered, GTAV, and Red Dead Redemption II. In fact, Hitman Absolution is the whole reason I stopped buying most games on Day 1 as it went on sale for half price two weeks after I got it and the store refused to refund me the difference due to having opened my copy even though their price guarantee policy is supposed to be 30 Days.

Anyway, it is interesting how some are really taking this topic overly serious instead of just having a fun discussion.

And those day one games alone would mount up to >$350, which is most of my monthly rent. My point stands. I've bought exactly two games full price in the last 15 years - Tales of Xillia 2 and Lightning Returns.

If you don't want a topic to be taken seriously, maybe try not making it about a topic that's life or death to a lot of people, eh?

Or we're picky about games we buy and are smart enough with our money that we don't need to sell any of our possessions

Right? I almost never preorder or buy brand new games, unless they've got day one content I can't get in any other way, I have enough at the time to afford it, and I know I'm likely to love the game (for example, most of the FF series, or stuff I've played in demos). I certainly don't buy so many games at full price that I would end up with enough games I didn't want to keep to make trading them in worth the money.

OP, your interpretation of the poll is so ridiculous I can't even. I have to save for months to buy a full price game if I want to. That's why I'm not stupid enough to go randomly buying crap I'm not sure I'll like. I don't take risks on brand new, unused physical copies of games, because I've never really been able to afford that. There are plenty enough people like you out there, who are comfortable blowing their cash on full price games against the chance you might not like them and would decide to return them, so I don't need to do it to keep up the industry. Who is it you think ends up buying the games you trade in, if not people like me? Dope =P

The whole "bioweapon" theory is obviously nonsense to anyone that understands how easy it is to engineer an actual supervirus that would be far, far more dangerous than this coronavirus has been. I remember reading about a guy who engineered a variant of mousepox (murine equivalent of smallpox) that incorporated a gene that allowed it to completely bypass the mouse's immune system, giving it a 100% mortality rate, and it was figured that doing the same to human smallpox would stand a pretty decent chance of wiping out humanity. Also, any decent bioterror agent can be aerosolized, which is not the case for a virus that requires direct contact for transmission.

I certainly wouldn't put it past China to be experimenting with bioweaponry and unleashing it on some of their citizens to test its effectiveness, but quite simply, this coronavirus isn't good enough at its job to make me suspect that that's what's going on here. They could also have done a much better job of keeping such testing under wraps, and likely would have if they were developing it for military use.

The plague's still around, and the bacterium that causes it (Yersinia pestis) is actually a viable bioterror agent because it aerosolizes well. You're not really going to get the bubonic plague (happens when it infects the skin, which is what happened when it was transmitted via flea bites in the middle ages) from an aerosol, but pneumonic plague (happens when it infects the lungs) is arguably worse.

I don't agree that bubonic or pneumonic plague caused that outbreak, though. Seanan McGuire did a pretty good job of explaining why it's not likely - http://genius.com/seanan-mcguire-the-black-death-lyrics

It really is not as big outside the US as you seem to think.

Damn straight. Not that I'd care even if I were American. There aren't many mainstream sports I care about, and I'd rather be doing than watching. I miss being able to, so I don't like watching people who still can, it just makes me angry or upset that I can't anymore. But the Superbowl is barely even a thing outside North America. Plenty of people here in the UK wouldn't know wtf you were talking about if you mentioned it. It sucks that there isn't a proper option for the huge "IDGAflyingF" crowd among us.

Don't let's start on Cait Sith - that pronunciation is nowhere near accurate, btw =P

Your friend is an idiot.
Sorry, but IAWTC.

I get not realising at first that the XIII is in Roman numerals, but if he still persists in insisting on his own 'name' when he's been told what the XIII means, then yeah: idiot.

Is renting considered debt if you have a contract?

Only if you're in arrears (i.e., not up to date with your rent payments). Otherwise, no.

I don't know. My local authority are trying to claim I owe them 10,000 for home care, but I dispute that because I've been trying to get the agency overcharging, and charging for calls they weren't actually making, recognised & sorted out for years now. I'm fed up. If it weren't for that, I'd have less than 1,000 of any kind of debt, and that mostly utilities (my electricity provider is a nightmare when it comes to customer service, & I can't get away from them yet).

Not bragging to say it, but aside from that, I think I've done okay for someone in a position like mine. I made sure never to get a credit card because I didn't want to get into debt and I have both bipolar disorder and dyscalculia affecting my budgeting. So aside from those two organisations I've done pretty well.

Any or all of the above! I don't sleep consistently during the day or during the night, and sometimes I do fall asleep with the overhead light or a lamp on, or some of my curtains open when it's light out, while other times I actively try to blackout my space, especially if I'm trying to sleep off a migraine. I voted lamp as that's most often, but I could've gone with most any of the options.

My last gig was Lacuna Coil, Eluveitie and Infected Rain, November 12th 2019. Next one on my calendar will be Delain, February 7th, then within a week of each other in March, Ludovico Einaudi and Tarja, followed by a joint Evanescence & Within Temptation concert at the end of April. So far.

Half the reason I moved to the city where I've spent most of my adult life was for the music scene - one of my better life choices!

Maybe you're half Spanish/Italian somewhere down the line? They're usually a little more tan with olive skin as their was a lot of interbreeding with the Moors back in the day.

That would be why I said Celtic Iberian... ;)

You would actually have to have valid points and not a mutated mass of purposefully bait points in order for me to actually refute anything.
Got THAT right. You know, aside from the fact that nobody willingly aborts in the third trimester without serious medical reasons. It's hypocritical and heartless to suggest otherwise just to have a talking point you think will shock people into thinking like you do (though frankly, I wouldn't lay money on critical thinking being a skill such folks practice very often).

White British, though my colouring is the old Celtic Iberian variety, and I've been taken for Hispanic or Latina a handful of times. (I really don't see it, but.)
