TheArkOfTurus 12/26/18 3:58:18 PM #340 | 33. Beat a game with a robot/artificial lead The Talos Principle Fantastic game. I intend to go back for another ending. Don't think I'll get all the stars, though. Only was able to find 1/3 of them. 20/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 12/19/18 9:52:24 PM #326 | 4. Beat a game released between 2010-2017 Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You Thanks again, KCF! The recommendation was well placed. I'll probably pick up the sequel sooner or later. 19/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 12/16/18 3:02:10 PM #322 | 7. Beat a game in a series you've already played some of Shining Force 3: Scenario 2 I don't really like this one as much as the rest of the main series. Still a good time, though. 18/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 12/12/18 5:24:56 PM #318 | No, you should keep hosting as long as you want to. 22. Beat a fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World of Light mode. That was a lot longer than I was expecting. It got a little repetitive, but it's Smash. I could probably play it forever and not get bored. Ended up with ~90% completion. Only need to find Richter to have all the characters unlocked in it. 17/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 12/06/18 3:45:55 PM #309 | 13. Beat a JRPG Saga Frontier Hey look, another RPG with the initials SF that I've already beaten several times. Sigificantly more than half a dozen in this case... actually maybe a full dozen. It helps that it's a very quick playthrough for a JRPG (this one took me about seven hours). Played through Blue's scenario, this time. I forgot about the "ending" of Blue's story. You know how the Sopranos ended? It was pretty much that. I love this game, but god was it rushed. 16/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 12/02/18 12:52:21 PM #303 | 6. Beat a game in a completely new series Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt 45. Beat a game that's been adapted into another medium Sonic the Hedgehog 15/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 11/28/18 10:43:31 AM #297 | 21. Beat a strategy game Shining Force 3: Scenario 1 Why did I feel the need to stop playing Dragon Quest XI to replay a game I've already beaten half a dozen times? Who knows! Gonna go through the other two scenarios and the premium disc too, though. At least I've only beaten those once. 13/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 11/09/18 7:54:58 PM #272 | 39. Finish a game in one day Tetris Effect A shame I don't have a PSVR for it, but even so, it's a damn good version of Tetris (and the first to make me want to play a new Tetris game since DX). 12/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 11/02/18 8:42:45 PM #254 | 9. Beat a remake or enhanced port Dark Souls Remastered Played through it at least a dozen times already. Not enough to stop me from buying it and playing it again... and immediately starting with a new character after I beat it. I kind of like Dark Souls. 11/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 10/30/18 5:46:13 PM #247 | 30. Beat a game with a female lead What Remains of Edith Finch Some extremely interesting storytelling. One of the best "walking simulators" I've played, no doubt. 10/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 10/29/18 12:35:53 PM #245 | 46. Beat a game that features historical events or people Warriors Orochi 4 I don't get what they were thinking with the way EXP was handled in this game. I was at half the recommended level the entire time. Did they expect you to only play 3 characters in a game with a roster of 170? Why did every character have to start at level 1? I guess it isn't the biggest problem a game could have, but it bugged me the entire time. 9/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 10/25/18 9:12:12 AM #238 | 48. Beat a game that starts with the first letter of your username The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories A lot less goofy than what Swery usually makes (although it certainly has its moments), but the writing was quite good. I didn't always like the way it controlled, but overall it was a great experience. A shame it's $30. I certainly feel like I got my money's worth, but that price point is probably going to make a lot of people avoid it. 8/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 10/13/18 4:36:55 PM #217 | 12. Beat a game made by a developer you've never tried Donut County Cute little game. Not a whole lot to it, but I enjoyed what was there. 7/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 10/05/18 5:37:08 PM #201 | KCF0107 posted... I should check to see how close I would be if I did a second list. According to the posting topic Google doc, I do have 101 games beaten on the year (in my defense, like 80% were sub-10 hours and many that went over were mostly or partially finished in 2017). Yeah, it's extremely unlikely I actually finish the list, myself. This is the only place I've been keeping track of what games I beat, though, and I like having that. Also... 2. Beat a game released between 1990-1999 Super Ghouls n' Ghosts 6/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 09/30/18 7:15:24 PM #185 | 18. Beat a third-person shooter Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Wasn't really feeling like playing Vanquish (or any Third Person Shooter, really.), so I just picked the shortest game I could find. It certainly fit the bill. One day I'll get to the actual MGS5 (although probably not until I get to MGS4) 50/50 Started a second just list for fun (although the first list was just for fun, too. Just for extra fun?) 5. Beat a game released in 2018 428 Shibuya Scramble (Very good. Dunno if I'd call it one of my favorite VNs, but it isn't too far off.) 15. Beat a puzzle game Reigns (Extremely simple, but enjoyable enough) 22. Beat a fighting game One Strike (Like Divekick, but a lot worse. Was worth the 18 cents I paid for it, though!) 29. Beat a game with comedy as a central theme Warioware Gold (Yep, Warioware is still fun. Unfotunately the touch screen on my 3DS is inaccurate, so 1/3 of the game isn't nearly as enjoyable as it should be) 47. Play a game that's technically unbeatable for at least six hours One Piece Treasure Cruise (I stopped playing this, but I certainly played it for more than six hours before I did.) 5/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 09/20/18 9:08:34 PM #167 | 23. Beat a sports game Pyre One of the most promising beginning few hours of a game I've ever played. Unfortunately, the gameplay never really evolved, and the plot never lived up to the amazing world-building. I still enjoyed playing it to the end, but what I thought might end up being one of my favorites ever ended up being merely good instead. 49/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 09/17/18 3:32:53 PM #159 | 1. Beat a game released before 1990 Contra There are a bunch of Contra games I like better than the original now, but it's still such a fantastic game for its time. Still don't like the camera behind the back sections, though. 48/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 09/11/18 6:43:34 PM #145 | Oh, Bloodborne had a comic book. Can move that to the adapted into another medium category, move Pathologic into horror themed game, and... 12. Beat a game made by a developer you've never tried The Messenger 47/50 No chance of fitting anything random into the other three spots I'm missing (pre-90s game, sports game, third person shooter). Probably going to play Pyre and Vanquish for the latter two categories, not sure about the first. --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 09/06/18 3:20:14 PM #132 | 21. Beat a strategy game FTL One of those games that I can replay at any time and still enjoy (even while spending a ton of time on subset's other game). I hope they port this one to the Switch at some point, too. 46/50 I also beat The Messenger (Fantastic game. Pretty much Shovel Knight if Shovel Knight wanted to be Ninja Gaiden instead.) but I don't think I can fit it anywhere. --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 08/22/18 8:03:41 PM #97 | That is weird. Can't even remember the last time I saw someone mention the game. I own (used to own? I have no idea where my old Game Boy games are) the GBC Azure Dreams. I didn't really care for it as much, but it's been so long that I should probably give it another go. --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 08/22/18 7:52:28 PM #95 | 24. Beat a game with romance as a central theme Azure Dreams (PSX). It has dating sim elements, even though I kind of wish it didn't. It's the only Mystery Dungeon style roguelike I've ever really gotten into. A lot of it is probably the nostalgia talking, though. I replay it every so often, but it's the first time in a long time that I've actually finished it. 45/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 08/17/18 9:16:03 PM #87 | 39. Finish a game in one day 60 Seconds Not sure what inspired me to play this again (it's kind of a nothing game), but it was a decent enough time killer. 44/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
Topic | The Great 2018 Video Game Challenge (Topic Two) |
TheArkOfTurus 08/15/18 3:01:42 PM #82 | 50-52. Beat three games in a series Banner Saga 1, 2, and 3. Had a lot of fun with it. Story wasn't as satisfying as I hoped (feels like a lot of plot threads didn't really go anywhere), but everything else was excellent. It felt more like an episodic game than three full sequels, so I'm glad I waited to play all three in a row. 43/50 --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 08/13/18 6:46:58 PM #79 | 37. Beat a game that's been in your backlog for a long time Ori and the Blind Forest 42/50 (I also beat Banner Saga 1 and 2, but I'm going to use them for the series category) --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 07/25/18 6:10:05 PM #97 | Ori's something I might have nominated myself, and Minit is something I nominated myself, so that's nice! Not a fan of NES RPGs, but I guess I can give DQ3 a shot. Edit: Just saw that Minit is getting a Switch port soon. Guess I should have waited. Whoops. --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 07/18/18 10:50:34 PM #77 | Yeah, barely put any time into Hat in Time, and the last time I did it crashed. Really doubt I'll get to it this month. Nominate Pyre and Minit --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |

TheArkOfTurus 07/18/18 3:12:14 PM #8 | I pre-ordered something on prime day, but that was just a coincidence (I heard Saga mentioned. TheArkOfTurus 07/10/18 7:07:20 PM #57 | I can't seem to stop playing Hyrule Warriors or Slay the Spire, and Octopath is going to divert my attention even more, so I'm not 100% sure I'll end up finishing a Hat in Time (Played enough to get two batteries. It does seem quite charming, though). Hopefully it ends up hooking me an hour in like Firewatch did, but I'm not sure that's as likely with a platformer. --- Our eyes were removed For our own safety |
