I need to play more Metroid. All Ive ever beaten are the NES original and Prime 1. I started Prime 2 once. Early on, I played about an hour without saving (just hadnt come across an opportunity) when the power went out. Was too annoyed to replay what Id lost.

Have always wanted to try ZM, Super and Fusion. Just havent had the time. Your list is giving me an itch to make time, though...

SF4's a really good fighting game. I'm over trying to come up with reasons as to why I like this one vs. the hundreds of other ones. I just like the mechanics and the characters and the flow of battle. Focus attacks are fun and the balance is good. Blah blah blah. This is my favourite competitive game.

I miss SF4. It was my go-to game for a really long time. I loved watching it competitively. SF5 is alright but a big step down from 4. I don't think I've gone back to SF5 since about a month in whereas I was playing SF4 for like 6 or 7 years. I kinda want to get back in and start playing it again. Everyone has moved on though. Oh well.

This is my #1. Loved SF2 when I was younger, played the hell outta it. I liked Third Strike, but it was tough getting to arcades by me, and I never really got it on a home console until much later, so it kinda skipped me. When SF4 came out, dear god did it hook me. I played it until SF5 came out, and after not caring for 5 much (a first for a SF), I did go back to Ultra for a while.

The biggest thing for me with this game was the discovery of the FGC. I would find myself watching a few videos online at the very beginning, just to learn more, when I stumbled upon Evo moment 37. I was awesome seeing the super parried, but I rewatched that video at least a dozen times just to watch the end, when the cameraman pans to the crowd. I was in awe - I had no idea that there was a fighting game scene... that tournaments like this existed, and that they drew good crowds (and that was back when the crowds werent like they are today).

This led to me learning about Evo as a tournament, the other majors, the pro scene, Eventhubs, and everything else. Ive been a big fan ever since. Sorry if none of this sentence made any sense, but this game opened my eyes to all of it, and I love the game for that reason. And that its great.

I've lost an uncountable amount of time to this game. Every reasonable permutation of classes, solo games, hard mode hacks, fan-made redesigns, ports, remakes, you name it. My love for this game runs real deep. It's a little archaic but I grew up with it so those outdated flaws are just parts of the game's DNA. I can't complain that much about anything in this package.

I have friends who give me a hard time for how often Ill play this game. My backlog is ridiculous, and yet I find myself playing this damn game too often. It isnt even my favorite FF (7>10>4>6>9>1>13>5>3>2>8 for me - havent done 12, 15 or the MMORPGs), but its such a quick dose of what I love and the gameplay has surprising variety depending on your opening party. The toughest playthroughs Ive done have been 4 black mages on NES and one white mage on PS1. I havent gotten to the point yet where I memorize the proper times to soft reset/hard reset the game for speed running purposes, and I sorta hope I never do. I wanna retain a certain level of casualness when I play.

Also, I boldfaced the one part because I completely agree with that. I sorta feel like Im cheating when I play a remake and saber (SABR) actually works.

Loving the list, by the way.

FFII & FFVIII are my least favorites in the series. Just in the last two years, I finally forced myself to beat it because I was playing through all the FFs in order. In every previous attempt, I always got really bored around when you go into space.

Not a fan of drawing spells, junctioning making things really easy if you know what youre doing, dislikes most of the characters, really didnt like the whole we were orphans together part, and Im in a minority here I think, but I didnt like Triple Triad.

Truth be told, I do like the story through disc 1. After that, I quickly start losing interest. Still, I can respect others for having a different opinion than mine.

I had to look at the poll first to see what this was about. Its pretty weird to get bent outta shape by that question for omitting PC. A console/handheld tends to last for 8-10 years, and as of late, gets a remodel halfway through its lifespan, so its a very specific question to be asking if you upgrade. PC is ever-evolving. You could make an upgrade, but then need to make a further upgrade one month later if you wanted to stay at the top of the line with specs.

Apples and oranges here.

Individual tracks or entire game soundtracks? If entire games, thats tough for the NES... most didnt have a ton of songs. Heres my list, in ABC order...

Castlevania
Castlevania 2
Castlevania 3
Contra
Double Dragon
Ducktales
Final Fantasy III
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Ninja Gaiden
Rad Racer (it has like 3 songs, but I love them)
Rygar
Super Mario Bros. 3
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Edit: Originally only wrote 10 games, didnt see it was top 15. I dont know enough about Dragon Quest 2-4, but I suspect those might be some good ones, too.

Isn't that equation also assuming that without a condom, sex would lead to pregnancy 100% of the time?

Is it? All I know is that the geometric distribution models TC's scenario with the parameters: n = 98, p = 0.03.

Well, I could be wrong here, but the success rate of a working condom would presumably be how often it prevents a fluid transfer, and not how often it prevents a pregnancy. The math equation should be correct, but we would also need to know how often unprotected sex leads to pregnancy in order to take it one step further.

That's my take on it, at least. If anyone thinks I'm wrong on this, by all means, correct me.

Actually, the event you're describing can be modeled using a geometric distribution.

So the probability of getting pregnant after the 98th time would be f(98) = (0.03)(0.97)^(97) = 0.16%, which is pretty damn low.

Isn't that equation also assuming that without a condom, sex would lead to pregnancy 100% of the time? Which should be another factor that lowers the odds, since it is much lower than 100%.

I tend to just put them in a bag, pay for my stuff, then take them out of the bag as the receipt is printing. It's incredibly minor, but a pet peeve.
