You're missing more options on the poll. I still own my SNES but I'm probably not getting the Classic. Unless I happen to have an extra 80 bucks and classes get cancelled or something around that time, I wasn't able to pre order online so my chances are pretty slim.

I'd rather get these games on virtual console anyway, even if they cost a bit more.

If you have a New 3DS it's fine. Not as good as the Wii U version, but still good enough I'd say. And the new maps and free dlc from the Wii U version add a lot of content.

I'm actually in the application stage for Pharm school myself (prob gonna submit tomorrow). Got a 96 PCAT and pretty high GPA so I shouldn't have any problem getting an interview at the very least. I only waited so I could graduate with my Chem degree first.

I've only encountered one, but it was one that froze the game when I was on my way to the fucking final boss. Like I replayed it since, and it froze at a point literally seconds before the final boss.

To a point this works because it is not so much about the profit as it is getting your consumers to buy when you want them to buy, and at exactly the quantities you want them to buy at. The video game industry, especially the hardware part of it that Nintendo is in, is an expensive business to be in, especially for a smaller company (relative to its competition) like Nintendo. They want it so that when they put out supply, that they are 100% sure that buyers will snap it up. Barely anything on the shelf.

It is a good strategy for Nintendo's position as long as it is not taken too far. I think they are taking it wayyy too far. To the point where it is more of an investment to buy Nintendo than it is enjoyable.

In theory, sure, but there has been no significant amount of evidence or any statistics whatsoever that prove that this method has any significant amount of advantage as opposed to simply meeting the demand. In fact, that logic goes against what they teach you in the very basic economics classes.

Nintendo, like many Japanese companies, is simply very conservative with their stocking. That's really all there is to it. People like saying "artificial shortages" as if it means something, but when you actually look at the evidence, and consider Nintendo's position it sounds really silly because it's ultimately incredibly ineffective and just ends with Nintendo leaving thousands of dollars on the table which is clearly not intentional by any stretch of the imagination.

Japanese companies are stubbornly conservative and cheap and also very risk averse. Nintendo especially. They want to ride out things so they don't have to spend money on excess stock because they don't have the confidence they once did especially after the Wii U. Japanese companies will forfeit customer satisfaction and even money to avoid risk.

But with things like the classic systems, there is no risk. None. You KNOW there is a great demand for it

It's still just a $80 toy to them. And they know there's demand, they just don't know how much demand there is, thus they choose to be needlessly conservative.
