The person was unfortunately not in a state of mind to obey the warning signs. The dogs were secure in the yard. The dogs dont inherently deserve to be put down for attacking someone who entered the property unwelcome to the propertys owner. No one animal should be responsible for the actions it inflicts on a trespassing individual. Its animal, not a creature with enough sense to make judgements like a human. If the person had not been trespassing I would agree with putting the dog down. Also, if the presoasser was nonviolent and the property owner responded violently, then I was would have issues with the property owner. This situation? Its like ignoring a wet floor sign and slipping because one was acting a fool on the wet floor.

You act as if those dogs wouldnt be a danger to anybody if they escaped the yard. Well that person isnt in the yard so I wont immediately and viciously maul them like I would if somebody was on the other side of the fence. If their response to somebody walking into the yard is to mail them to death then yes, they absolutely do deserve to be put down because they are a persistent danger to all people around them but a select few.

Ive never really considered how the law views hidden cameras in a home. In this case its not his home, its his fathers, but would it be different if the house was in his name? Do you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in somebody elses home?

Such a fucked up response to a completely reasonable request. Cop should definitely get some time for that and the other cops should get marks against them for refusing to put on masks and not stopping the other cop long before he got to 13 punches. Masking up should not be something first responders are allowed to refuse when dealing with immunocompromised people.

Putting up a trespassers will be shot sign doesnt actually make it legal to murder somebody just for stepping on your property either.

Its the homeowners responsibility to not create a deadly response to mundane , non-threatening things. You might as well argue you should be able to line your yard with land mines. Also this was not a fucking home invader.

Physical walls are still a much worse investment than more technologically advanced methods.
