Technically it's the opposite. The original idea of The Hobbit, and later LoTR, was that it happened in the distant mythical past. Tolkien wanted to make a new legend for Britain. Legends happen in the past. Middle Earth is supposed to be Earth but like in a very ancient forgotten era Pretty accurate. A welcome change of pace from Danganronpa, which always felt to me as if unlikable characters were screaming at me nonstop for dozens of hours. It needed more focus though, as the game offers up quite a few interesting mechanics that all felt under-utilized and sort of half-baked in presentation. Not a bad game, but it wont be replacing the Danganronpa series any time soon.
