*End of Disc 1 MAJOR spoilers for Final Fantasy 7*

Aerith/Aeris gets killed by Sephiroth.

I had it spoiled for me back in like 2007 on GameFAQs lol.

Even if I hadn't had it spoiled on this website, I played FF Theatryhthm Curtain Call long before I played 7 and the music video for 7 just straight up features the scene lmao <_<

Lol nope. Its 1997 baby, nary a social medias in sight. My household's first PC was in like the summer of 2000 because desktops finally became easily affordable for the average family, so our dial-up internet didn't happen until getting this first like hewlett-packard PC happened. (Straight up every single person my family knew...friends, cousins, church members etc. was in the same situation. No PCs owned/too ignorant to utilize the ones seen at a library and school for people around my age thus no internets till 2000 on up, lol. Maybe one other older church couple had a PC with america online or something).

1997 14 year old me didn't spend the little bit of money I had on a ton of gaming magazines, so none of them spoiled me on anything like, ever. Just a nice, going-in blind holy shit FF7 for christmas and beaten by the time february 1998 came around experience.

No. I played the original FF7 long before I started frequenting the internet. I only had 1 friend that had played it and he let me borrow it without spoiling anything.

Yes but only because I purchased the official FF7 strategy guide months before I was able to get the game for Christmas 1997.

Speaking of which, according to amazon I purchased this guide online March 4, 2004. I have no idea why I would have done that.

No

Played it on early 1998. Was a huge fan of FF4 & FF6. Didnt have a PS1 yet, and didnt know FF7 was even a thing until a friend asked me for some help, because he was stuck and he knew I liked FF games. I was amazed to learn the game existed.

My friend was in Nibelheim when I first watched him playing a bit. I decided I needed to get my own PS1, just for FF7 initially, and started my own playthrough.

Never had it spoiled.

What? FF7 released in North America in November 1997. The internet wasn't anywhere near as pervasive back then as it is now. Hell, Gamefaqs didn't even have dedicated message boards until 1999.

I couldn't tell you, cuz it was so long ago, but I don't THINK so. My first playthrough of FF7, it was actually a friend of mine's copy, and he was just a huge stoner, didn't really wanna play the game, but just watched while I played it for him.

I ended up beating the game on my own time, so I was pretty ahead of a lot of my friends at the time, and wasn't really "online present" then.

It was september 7th 97' actually (you are thinking of the pal release). Still though, yeah internet acess still wasn't at that point where it was super common until the early 2000s when more and more families started getting their own desktop PCs. At least in north america anyway.

Best we had pre-having our own PC was going to a library and maybe the like, 3 or 4 PCs that was there had dial-up internet on them. My middle and highschool PCs definitely had no internet access whatsoever when I was in middle and highschool from 96' to 2001....those PC classes was basically just for general info like how to type, where to find programs, and playing the copy of duke nukem 3D some junior or senior sneakily installed on the PC before they graduated, lol.

I played in 97 while I was in the Navy pretty much right after release. It wasn't spoiled. My life at that time didn't involve the Internet at all nor anyone around me did either. I didn't start regularly using the Internet until 1999. Besides even in todays modern era I really don't get things spoiled. My Internet usage is mild and even on gamefaqs I just avoid topics about the game I don't want to know anything about. It really hasn't been an issue for me.

There was no social media and smartphones, but internet was still fairly common. There's a reason those jokes about AOL discs being so common is a thing. I had it, my family members had it, most of my friends did. I'm more surprised at the comments in here saying they didn't have internet.

Oops. I glanced at the wiki info from the google search page, where it lists all of the release dates at once. I must have read the Pal date thinking it was the NA date.

Sure, plenty of people had internet. But it's not like spoilers were some inescapable thing, like that guy was making it sound. We had dial-up internet in the 90's, but I used it almost exclusively to look up cheats for Genesis/SNES games and then later print Gamefaqs guides for PS1 games.

Outside of that, I wasn't really able to use the internet a lot, because that meant I was tying up the phone line (we only had 1 phone line, so you had to disconnect the phone to log in to AOL).
