How do you not get this?

Its been talked about 2 or 3 times now in this topic. The MCU was built on a very grounded depiction of super heroes. The idea of bringing a talking tree and raccoon into the fold was a leap to say the least.

One of the biggest gambles and payoffs in movie history though.

The comparison to Iron Man doesn't really hold up because that movie isn't all that grounded in reality either. The Iron Man suit itself is far more unrealistic than anything in the Nolan movies.

It is unrealistic but its explained to the audience in a way that feels somewhat grounded

Its no more unrealistic then any of the technology Batman has. Remember that weird hacking scene in the Dark Knight?

https://youtu.be/IRELLH86Edo

Or how about just the idea of the bat suit. How a thin cape can support the frame of a 250 pound man and allow him to glide gently into the night.

Theres a lot of unrealistic shit about three movies. But thats not the point. They both ground themselves enough to immerse you in their reality.

Exactly, it's all about perception. DC's shit isn't any worse than Marvel's worst, and Marvel's best is still pretty meh compared to other movies... audiences just give the MCU a pass and are more critical of DC

This is the worst take thus far in the topic.

Marvel got to this point because theyve made so many awesome movies with characters that had no right to be that interesting or well loved. That now audiences are just like let the chef cook. You dont just make 20 great films without people trusting that you know what youre doing.

DC cant make their most universally recognized and loved heroes work. Theyre not the same in any way.

Nolan Batman exists in a world where the supernatural doesn't exist and science fiction elements are kept to a minimum. It wouldn't have worked.

It'd be like having a series of Scooby Doo movies where the monsters are all people in costume -- then suddenly doing a shared universe with Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein's Monster.

Did we forget how the MCU got its start?

With Iron Man. Now it may be hard to go back and look at that movie in a vacuum but it also released in 2008 the same year as The Dark Knight. And we all looked at Iron Man as a very grounded, realistic depiction of a Super Hero. Thats kind of what made the MCU so exciting was that it felt like, for some degree anyway, it wasnt a completely out to lunch Superhero film. It felt real in a lot of ways.

So then it became super interesting with questions of How are they going to do Thor? Or hell Doctor Strange. So far theres been no express magic shown. And even Dr Strange introduced magic in a way that felt true to the series.

Now I think weve gotten to the point in the MCU where theres nothing they cant do and audiences really dont care.

But anyway my point is they could have easily done the same thing branching off from Nolans Batman.

This topic is a textbook example of how ignorant CE is to anything police related.

Heres a hot tip. If you dont understand basic police procedure, even when its explained to you multiple times, you should excuse yourself from the conversation.

People in this topic are literally saying how is she supposed to pull a weapon when handcuffed

Do you have any basic reasoning skills whatsoever?

Heres a simple question. What if she did have a weapon in her bra? CEs procedure is one of assumptions. Assume she doesnt have anything and assume even if she does she would be incapable of using it at any point during her arrest.

This is why you snowflakes have no place in this discussion. Learn a thing or two and use your head please.

Not disagreeing with this, but just going by screen time isn't super fair since as an ensemble movie, basically every scene has like 3-4 of the avengers in it. Just because Black Widow is in every scene in the background it doesn't mean she had anything close to a likeable character.

Fair. But on the flip also dont think you can say a character was on scene for 33 minutes and we know nothing about them.

We learn a lot about BW in Avengers. And see what shes capable of.

Youre clearly a biased ignorant buffoon. Want to talk about facts? How about you take 5 minutes to google Joss Whedon sexism and read the constant examples of why hes a shit tier fake ass feminist. Hes not remotely what you give him credit for.

Black Widow was literally anything BUT a character in Avengers 1 and 2. The Russo Brothers gave people reasons to care for her and never treated her as just the female in the team.

Dont get upset because youre wrong.

Why would I need to google some horseshit revisionist history when Ive seen Buffy, Firefly and his Avengers

The proof is in the pudding bud. You cant take away what hes accomplished.

You have a trend of ignoring blatant factual evidence.

Hardly a character but somehow has 33 minutes of screen time

Bruh have you ever seen Law and Order? That exact scenario is not even especially rare on that show, especially SVU.

Bruh do you understand the difference that you go into Law and Order expecting that kind of shit and for it to be handled in their own formulaic way.

Ive never seen another show like Firefly that handle it in such a way. Firefly never set itself too dark, and while it did have an excellent dramatic element, mixed with bits of comedy, we see it in that very episode in fact. To have such a charismatic villain (that Im sure wouldve been recurring if not for the fate of the show) to legit threaten rape?

Why am I explaining this. I know youve never seen this in another show like it.

Y I K E S so eliminating female roles is totally okay in your book?

lol you're virtue signaling is hilarious

I'm sure the Russo brothers and Markus and Mcfeely all probably did a huge chest bump and shotgunned a beer when they realised they could take away a "female role" and give it to a male

Or

And this might surprise you

Hulk performing the snap is a better choice for the main cast of characters and gives that character ark a much better feel. Also, again, back to paying attention to movies

The Nebula that was around during the "bring Everyone Back" snap was the EVIL Nebula. Or did you not watch or understand the movie? You would literally have to rewrite the entire movie and I guarantee it would be worse. It would have killed that character and ended her arc right there. Huge win for feminism right, killing off strong Female leads for absolutely no reason other to be faithful to the comics. Do you remember her arm getting chewed up by that forcefield when she collected the Power Gem? I'm sure the Avengers and audiences would have been cool with this character sacrificing her life for no reason when there are stronger characters that would have survived it.

Reducing one of the biggest moments in the film to a game of sexes is an absolute joke. Thinking that it was "removed" from Nebula and making it about gender is complete horse shit and it's quite obvious you don't understand the film.
